Yes, that's what I said. Totally dependent on the ESN, etc. Just tried to dumb it down for you.

It's strange that it would be trying to connect to sprint even though you've flashed the rom.

I would try installing the DEFAULT Sprint rom... crapware included... and just see what happens. Worst case, you waste a little time...

DUDE! tone it down a notch or two, take a breath, then read the forum rules here
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=229

This is a NICE place where we all treat each other with respect. That doesn't mean you have to agree with everyone, or that you can't tell someone they are wrong. HOWEVER, it does mean no swearing and no personal attacks - just like it says in the forum rules. No need for the cyber-thug attitude. That will get you no where but BANNED. If you don't like the rules, and don't want to abide by them, then don't go away mad - just go away...

I noticed that you had no response to my previous post about Sprint's ability to "UN-blacklist" the ESN - or what that says about the ethics of deciding to keep the phone instead of turning it in. How about putting it this way. If it were your phone, and you bought it on eBay for example, so you had no insurance on it, would you want the person who found it to turn it in so Sprint could get it back to you?

'Nuff said [/soapbox]

From all of this I tell you now I would not/will not help you at all. What you are looking for and trying to do has been done so many times before but at this point, the only thing I can say is I hope you are good with Google because I doubt anyone here will ever help you with an attitude such as yours. In all the time I have been here I have NEVER seen someone with the likes of you to whom asks questions but then tries to beat everyone else up for TRYING to help you even if they may not have the right answers (especially after you have been asked to calm down so many times). Ive been on PDAPH.com since 03 and never seen it there either. I dont care what your post count versus IQ is, your ignorance is apparent and speaks for itself. Good luck with your project all the same.

Thats why I changed the ESN. Wow can I please get some help from someone other then a bunch of damn noobs with low post count to match there IQ.
I read the rest of this post before I decided to reply to you. I just want you to know that I am in no way offended by your comments about my IQ. I can tell you for certain that I am not a thief and that my XV6700 is working correctly.

I only replied to your initial post to point out that you should have taken the phone back. It doesn't matter if the phone had already been reported stolen. It doesn't belong to you. You are also in possession of stolen goods.

Three Strikes

I have never before posted - not smart enough That being said, I can count (thanks for detailing it for us, weedahoe), and I would say our friend, fleshe, should definitely be 'out'.

BTW, the guys (and gals) here have been an awesome help me more than once. I'd like to keep this as my "nice place" to go for answers.

well done fleshe. good info on the A-key and stuff. I also have verizon and I am jumping ship as soon as my contract ends. they have been good to me but gsm phones work better in alot a ways. btw i had sprint also and lost my phone had to report it stolen and file a police report to get the insurance to replace it. before my new phone arrived i found my lost one. took it in to sprint to have them reactivate it and they had already black listed it. gave the phone to a friend on verizon they unlocked it and verizon did not have a problem activating it with the same esn. apparently verizon and sprint dont share data on lost phones. so you could have saved yourself some trouble but its better to be safe then sorry. im going to try to get my A-key removed also lol

OK, so are you saying that once the ESN is "blacklisted" it is permanent and can't be undone by the carrier? I don't get that - it only makes sense that if they can do it they can undo it.

Interesting that Verizon would activate a phone on their network that was programmed for Sprint's network. I've always understood that they wouldn't do that because of all the settings and firmware tweaks that are unique to each carrier.

I have a feeling that we won't be seeing fleshe anymore. Either the mods already took care of him or he figured out this isn't his kind of place.

I also found it pretty ironic and amusing that he was insulting others and questioning their IQ - when every one of his posts were full of misspellings, grammatical errors, and improper use of capitalization and punctuation. That alone made a REAL impression on me.

Of course I can't help but question the intelligence of people who are unable to express themselves without resorting to vulgarity. you can't help but wonder if they even know any words with more than four letters...

I dont think it is a question of can they or can they not undo it. It is more that they will not do it. I think it is because the device has been reported stolen or missing meaning whoever has it (if anyone) is not the correct owner and therefore no one has the right to use it except the original owner.

It was my understanding also that the phone could not be swapped between carriers. While I see how sprint my blacklist the ESN and VZW would not, I was under the impression it was more of a software/firmware issue as well. It would actually be interesting to see someone with a Sprint logo'ed phone but showing (physically) it is on a VZW network thus proving its cross-compatabilty.

I think this as well. However if the mods had done anything I think they would have posted something saying so. Some of us can only hope though..

What else can I say on it. I hope he is able to resolve his issues (mentally and physically) but I hope not to see him back here unless he has an attitude change.
