Can a replacement be denied because of WM6 Upgrade?

I am hoping someone knows/has experience with this...

I have installed WM6 on my Apache and today my mic and earpiece stopped working... I do have TEP so I can get a full replacement (or maybe the Mogul?) but I am wondering if I'm going to have any issues because I have the upgraded OS installed on my phone?

I brought in my Apache several other times with versions of 3.0, 3.5, ect. but never with WM6...

Any suggestions?

I would flash back to an official rom before taking it. You should be able to find it on utstar.com.

Tep

If the mic and the speaker stopped working, which is a hardware problem, more than likely they can't fix it at a store. This is also a known issue with UTStarcom. It happened to me also, I was using a different pair of headphones that didn't come with the 6700, with an adapter, and the device started thinking that the headphones were always plugged in when they were not. As far as replacing the device, with TEP, you don't have to bring it in to a tech to look at it, you call Asurion (the insurance company for Sprint) pay the deductable, get a new device. TEP covers lost, stolen, the dog ate it, I was pushed in the pool and it was in my pocket, etc, etc. - If Asurion is out of the 6700's, which hopefully should be soon, if not now, then you get a 6800. You just need to find someone who has had there's replaced with a 6800 to know for sure.

I don't want them to fix it I want them to replace it. I've had 7 6700's replaced in store for anything from broken screen to being snapped in half (I am rough on my phones) and I've never had to pay the deductable or even contact Assurian...

Either way my question has been answered thanks!

Yeah Ive gotten real lucky only once before with a non standard sprint rom, Just my luck the USB port broke on my device leaving me with no method to re-flash the regular rom... Suffice to say, Thank god the sprint rep was a WMIdiot because he thought my bootscreen was a "screensaver"...

Needless to say, a risk not worth taking twice XD Reflash to the original rom every time (if you can)

my 6700 has started doing the bit wher eit thinks the headphones are plugged in when they are not... really annoying. would this not be covered under warranty? I have only had my phone since June, and didn't get the insurance.
