did the upgrade base on 'pierocksmysocks' post and updated the PRL. I usually drop calls inside my house but so far it's just choppy.

PRL Update (failed)

I downloaded the 20229.prl and copied it into my ppc 6700 sprint) windows folder and deleted the 20224.prl file. I then ran the ppst.exe, did a soft reset, and then system -> device info still shows prl of 20224.

What did I do wrong?

Thanks in advance.

if i'm not mistaken, you need to rename the 20229.prl to 20224.prl then run the ppst.exe and that should perform the upgrade, which you can verify after the soft reset.

There is no 20224.prl in the /windows folder on my phone.
Also, I don't see a ppst.exe file in my /windows folder.
As a matter of fact, when I do a "find" for files with a .prl, the results only show the 20229 I downloaded to my storage card.
If I am running WM6 will the instructions to update be different?

If you are running Windows Mobile 6 from Helmi then PPST.exe is not in the windows folder. Assuming you did not wipe your extended rom you can copy the PPST.exe file from the extended ROM. You will need to guess at what the PRL file name should be. The device will only remeber the name of the last OTA prl file that was downloaded and updated. The easiest way is copy the 20229.prl file to the Windows directory and then rename to 20228.prl and then run the PPST.exe program. If the update did not take then rename to 20227.prl and run PPST.exe. Keep renaming the PRL file backwords numerically until the update takes.

PRL is Preferred Roaming List. It is a binary file loaded in memory to allow your phone to choose the best option from all available networks in the area you are calling from.

I want to thank everyone for this information. Coming from Verizon where all you do is OTA yourself by doing the *228, I thought updating the PRL with Sprint was having to call or go into the store. These clear instructions just allowed me to update the prl myself in my Mogul. It reset the device after I installed the file by itself, I just checked the device info and it's there! Very easy to follow instructions and the link to Corolada helped. Thank you all again.
