Although it has been firmly established that Weather Panel is a leading cause of these hangs, I'm going to try the above to see if this truly resolves this issue. I'm fairly certain I did this before, but I'm hoping I'm wrong.
At least for me - WP is far more accurate in current temperature than the HTC Today Plugin. Just run them simultaneously for comparison in your area.

First post, but have been following this thread for a while as I've been experimenting with wm6 on my xv6700. At this point it appears that Rob Mayer's build is the most stable on my device. I have had the best success with his ROM, but it lacks some features that I would like. Yesterday I moved back over to devel4 from Verizonguy or Helmi_c after updating my radio 1.43. I unchecked the box for automatic updates in the HTC weather app, and the device ran great. I decided to leave it unplugged last night to test the power hypothesis. When I got into work this morning, I had 50% battery power. Soft resets worked great. When my battery dropped to 40%, my soft reset hung on the green wm page. I tried to charge the battery in the cradle and reset, but it still hangs. I swapped to a new, fresh battery, but it still hangs. I haven't added anything to this build at all, but am strongly considering testing the above hypothesis (power) with Rob's build to see if it does the same thing when the battery power drops. Hopefully this is helpful to somebody out there.

I disabled the HTC Home Today Plugin and it seems to have resolved my troubles... 4 hard resets later. Damn.

I made the move back to Rob Mayer's build again (as it seemed the most stable). I tried soft resets at 60%, 50%, and then 20% (was on my phone and lost a lot of battery, apparently). The only thing I did to alter this build was to disable the HTC weather option to "Download weather data automatically." At 20% battery, the ROM loaded fine after the soft reset. I'm going to let the battery continue to drain and see if this changes anything. I'll keep you posted. It sure seems to me as though it's software or registry related. I'm VERY happy with the apparent stability of this build for my device, but wish that it had voice dialing and Office 2007. Is there any way that I can just install these on top of this build or do I need to build a new ROM?

Last post for a little while. I ran that battery completely out of juice, soft rebooting many times while it reported 10% battery with no problems at all. The battery ran out, the device shut down, and I swapped with my second battery and powered the unit back up. Without skipping a beat, the device came back up and began functioning like normal. I could be wrong, as I'm a bit of a newbie with this stuff, but it sure seems to me like my problem is related directly to the ROM that I have installed and running on my phone. It would be nice to know what the major differences are between Rob's build and Verizonguy or Helmi's builds are. This is way over my head though, and there might be too many changes to really determine which variable is the one that we are looking for. Anybody else want to weigh in on this one?

Well, I am on about my thousandth reboot. I do not have WP installed, and I dont have HTC Home. I am still having these problems. I am pretty darned frustrated cause I have cooked up all kinds of different versions of roms using helmis kithcen. I dont know what is causing it.

Has anything else worked for you guys not running WP or HTC Home? I mean, I can load up the OEM rom and it doesnt hang, but as soon as i cook up a rom, (regardless of how lite I make it) i still get hangups on splash.

I have been able to get it "unstuck" sometimes by charging the battery fully, then booting, but 98% of the time its a no-go. I am really hating re-setting up my phone every time I forget to charge the darn thing at night

Go to the Sprint store, have them swap out your battery.

I have found something I can replicate over. If i turn the radio off on my phone, I can soft reset as many times as i want and not get a hang. If I turn the radio on, and do a soft reset, I get the hang on splash every time. I am beginning to the think its something to do with the radio version.

I am running ver 1.41.00

If I remember correctly, I didnt have any hanging on boot issues until I upgraded the radio version. Is it possible to downgrade to a previous radio version? If so I am going to give that a try.

Also, what radio versions are you guys running?

Nice find.

hmmm.... interesting. Using the kitchen released a couple weeks ago, (not sure if it included any radio installs) I have radio 1.27.00
I haven't had to do a hard reset since.
