replacement story

I think I have a similar issues. My 6700's Navi-control fell apart so I decided to go to the sprint repair store around the corner from my job. I took it in, and the tech said I had to make a claim because they didn't cover water damage ( the torx screws inside on top of the metal shielding left greenish/greyish rust spots). He shows it to me and they are so small i couldn't believe he couldn't repair something you could easily wipe off. So I went home, found some instructions on how to disassemble the phone and cleaned the spots with rubbing alcohol and took it too a different sprint repair store. This store seamed to be the real deal as they had many techs, reps with phones, accessories, touch screens etc. So i got in line, told the rep my issue and they took my phone in. They said it would take an hour, so an hour later I came by and they said they couldn't repair my phone ( damn insurance claims I thought). The rep then told me they would ship me out a new phone within 3-4 days and call me when its in. sweet, i thought. Well on my way out a saw the receipt said a 6800 replacement and a price of $549 that I'm not being charged for, odd I thought. So now I'm wondering whether I will get my 6700 replacement, or a 6800. I'll update as soon as I get the phone, and maybe try to fuss at the fact that I just bought a miniSd card & accessories and "beg for a 6700".

just wondering, did you have like an insurance or service plan or something? Because I remember having my 6700 for 3 weeks when it first came out and when the volume slider popped out they laughed at me and said too bad (without the laughing)...and I'm even on a corporate 'we'll do anything to keep your company our customer' plan/

Total Replacement Claim Last week, New/Refurbished 6700

Just last week I took my 6700 in to a Store in VA Beach at 6:00 on a saturday afternoon. The store closes at 7:00, so they asked me to leave it there.. I went back on Sunday at 1:00 and they had what looks like a new 6700 (not a scratch on it)... It does work great... and I will say, the service at the store was excellent.. Very busy store/tech center, I went right to the repair desk, talked to them, gave them the phone, they asked me to come back the next day.. Next day, came right in to the front desk to put my name on the list, and she had a list of "customer ready phones" My name was on the list and they gave me the new phone, and all is well.. .I would have loved a 6800, but seriously, with the Newest BIG J rom, I am still very pleased with my 6700... I hope they run completely out soon, as I will always pay the 7 bux a month for the total replacement insurance to guarantee a phone to me all the time.

Sure, got a real great way. Look at the bar at the top of the page (Under all the PPC's). Second from the right is a tab labeled search. Click the tab, follow the prompts and input your question. The answers are here if you look. We're glad to help, but use the resources such as search here, sometimes that's quicker than waiting for someone to post an answer.

Sorry...meant to put my location in the first post. I'm in Dallas

I'm in the Orlando area, and 4 weeks ago, I went to get my 6700 repaired do to a bad USB port as well, and they ordered me a refirbed 6700. 2 weeks later that one went bad as well, white screen and non stop vibrating, and that too was replaced by a refirbed 6700. Each time ordered through insurance at a Sprint store that does repairs in it.
Truthfully, I would love a 6800, but I'm very happy with my brand new (to me at least) 6700. It's like starting all over again with a new phone. Now that we have WM6, I'm very content. All I ever wanted was HTML email

Wink Scoop

I spoke with a manager today since I have been waiting over a week now for some type of replacement. The alignment on my screen is screwy after 1 year of use, and several drops. He said there policy is to find a ppc 6700 either new or refurbed first, then they will look for a treo 700, and then if they can't find either of those we would then get a mogul 6800. There is a shortage of ppc 6700 now, at least in MI.

PS- I will receive a new one tomorrow (6700) which I am very grateful for, especially since Helmi has liberated us to WM6.

PSS- The squeeky wheel gets the oil, so be persistent if you need a replacement. I called the Sprint store after 5 days, and found out that nothing had been done to find me a new phone. The tech said something about they were waiting on an allocation of funds for phone replacement, whatever that means, since I pay the insurance premium every bill. Just be nice, but persistent.
