WM6 ext rom help needed here..

First off, hello. I am new here, but by no means new to modding PPCs/ROMs. I have also read a bunch of info here & there looking for the answer to my question but can't seem to find it, although I know I've done this before.

My question is (and I know I've done it before with the Apaches first "official" rom upgrade),
I want to be able to remove some of the apps installed with the unofficial WM6 ROM upgrade, but don't necessarily want to remove them from the ROM itself. What entry/s do I need to remove from the config file to list them in the remove programs list after a hard reset?

Awesome work BTW, my 6700 has been pretty much a paper weight for about a year now, but this adds some serious value to it. I plan on using it as just a PDA now & to use it with a BT gps dongle I have.

On the WM6 upgrade, the "Kitchen" has not yet been released. The kitchen is used to "brew" or create your own custom ROMs and remove features that you do not want defaultly installed. So for now, you will just have to suck it up, and deal with the preinstalled apps.

Just be a bit more patient, and WM6 kitchen will be out shortly.

I found exactly what I was looking for, it's just named differently in the WM6 rom package. All I had to do was omit the "remove.sa.cab" entry from the config file to get what I wanted. This allows me to remove the "customizations" & some other garbage I won't be needing as the device won't be on any phone network anyway.

Everything else I can remove from the cab files, or the config file as I choose. Hows that for sucking it up? =) (no flame intended)

Thanks for the quick reply though.

You shouldn't have allowed your carrier customizations to run. The needed parts, with updated components, are already baked into the ROM. Allowing the customizations to run - even if you remove the programs later - just screws things up as the customizations load all kinds of incompatible stuff. The apps that are in the ROM itself (as opposed to the ext_rom, which is where the carrier customizations live) shouldn't show up in Remove Programs (and if they did, you still wouldn't be able to remove them).

Good input there, I'll try that out by bypassing the VZ customizations.
