No Sound!!!!

For some reason my sound isn't working. What I mean when I say that is the speaker isn't working. I hear phone calls and such through the little speaker, but no screen tap sounds, hardware button sounds, ringers, mp3, etc can be heard. BT works fine

The settings are set correctly and it really puzzles me. It seems to be an intermittent problem because every now and then I slide the volume slide up and can hear the tones, but it doesn't last long. At one point in time the ringer slightly rang but then conked out. I'm guessing it's a problem with the speaker itself, but when I reset the device I can hear the doo-doo-doo, so I don't know. Anybody run into this problem before? And if so how can I fix it?

I've hard reset the as well and no luck. Also I can no longer hear WMP, or other sounds through the BT. Only phone calls. And I'm not quite sure but I think that the device doesn't even vibrate all the time. Do you know how many phone calls I've missed b/c of this problem?!?!?!?

that's weird... have you tried turning off BT? Or deleting your BT headset profile? I'm not an expert with this... that's just the first thing I would try if the sound seems to be coming exclusively out of BT.

yup tried that. It's boggling me as well. It could just be a faulty speaker, but that wouldn't prevent BT audio would it?
When I say audio, I guess I should say system sounds and WMP.

wait, I thought you could "hear" phone calls?

Please tell me what does and does not work:

Yes or no

Phone call:
Speaker phone in phone call:
Sound from MP3:
Phone call over BT:
Sound from MP3 over BT:

What you said made me think this is what was going on:

Phone call: yes
Speaker phone in phone call: yes
Sound from MP3: no
Phone call over BT: yes
Sound from MP3 over BT: yes

Is that wrong?

Here's an update. Last night while on a phone call, I decided to hit speaker. The speaker worked and I could tell it was on, but as soon as the person spoke the speaker cut off. So the speaker is not totally dead but definetly not working correctly. Thanks in advance for the help.

Already found the solution to the problem (l read an article in this forum of the friend Luv2chill, of the topic After rom install-help!!!! .. volume is gone!!!) in which he was explaining a problem that the XV6700 presents. Apparently, when much uses the headset with this telephone and updates (the truth I don't know the technical reason, but I give them the empirical solution, thanks Luv2chill) the sound hardware is blocked, only working the headset. The solution for it (as I say to them, empirical enough, but effective), is to reproduce a long sound (like of a minute or more) and to introduce and to extract several times (as approximately 5 to 10 times) the headset, until sound is listened again in the speaker.

I've been having problems with my speaker as well, and I have the 6800 MOGUL. I didnt upgrade any ROMS but, every now and then I wont hear my phone taps, I wont hear the phone ring, but if I answer, I can hear the caller. I wont get any alerts, alarms, rings anything. I have to reset the phone in order for the sound to kick back in... It's annoying and this just started about 2 weeks ago. I don't have any new prgms installed, in fact, I have less prgms now than I did before!

The same problem I had with my XV6700 (the stamp of call was listened, but not the sound of the menus, when I was answering they were not listening to me, etc, etc). Try to install the original rom to see if this way it was working, but nothing. I execute what indicates above and I me work. They have not sent Verizon's diagnosis, but apparently the jack where the handsfree connects generates a kind of shortly that blocks the sound hardware of the telephone when much is in use the same one. Not if with the Mogul it was working, but I have understood that the structural design of the hardware is similar to that of the XV6700.

I was helping my friend install Helmi's WM6 onto a 6600 and found a file called WM6_SoundFix.cab in a winrar file. I installed it on my phone because I didn't have any sounds either. Here's the link to the file, hope this is what you are looking for. http://rapidshare.com/files/52032198/AddOn.rar
