What they're talking about (I think) is using WM6 with Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile, which does have SIP support. I don't believe they're talking about using it as a softphone for an independent VoIP provider (like Stanaphone, VoIPBuster, ViaTalk, etc.)

For that, I've tried multiple softphone clients for Windows Mobile (Xten, Fring, etc.) some are commercial/paid software and some were free. The one that I ended up liking the most (the sound quality was the best on) was SJPhone which is free.

The setup of SJPhone isn't all that intuitive, so if you need help setting it up just let me know. You can get it from here: http://www.sjphone.org/preview/SJpho...wsCE(preview)/

I'm using the one for Windows Mobile 5 (which also coincidently, works great with WM6).

thanks!
what we are trying to do is use these phones as a voip on an internal wireless network.
currently we use a spectralink phone system, but we are thinking about moving over to something like this, if it can work.
i think i will get our phone guy to register, and ask a couple questions, more intelligently than i can.

Not a problem. It is actually quite easy (SJPhone) and supports standard SIP. Glad I could help.

Do any of these work with SKYPE? I do not currently have a voip provider but skype seems good with their unlimited calling in us/canada for $30 per year. If it isnt possible to use skype could someone recommend another cheap (or free) voip provider?

From Microsoft themselves? Are you sure this isn't talking about Microsoft Office Communicator for PPC ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/office/bb310644.aspx ) which uses SIP/RTP for communications. If not, I guess I stand corrected. I'd like to see what Microsoft has come up with.

I'd also like to see Cisco make a softphone for PPC. The closest I've found for Cisco is http://www.ipblue.com/ more specifically http://www.ipblue.com/products_vtgo_ppc.asp.

Avaya makes a softphone for their IP PBX based systems:

I tried it on mogul and get no sound. the call worked tho just couldnt hear anything. Also i think it said on the website that the titan isnt compatible so i guess the mogul isnt either. This is why Im wondering if its possible with this Sjphone. or whats the best one thats compatible with is if skype isnt.
