Can you enumerate what steps you took to disable vpn crap?

Well for my case, my company uses cisco's vpn software. So in the background it runs this service called BlackIce, which tends to block certain networking devices such as activesync (if in rndis mode) or internet sharing. To turn this off, I went under Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services. Under that I see the service "BlackIce" and click stop. Sometimes that gets hung, so you can kill it directly from under taskmanager, its blackd.exe. After that, i just turn on internet sharing, plug in the usb cable and thats it. Im also running XP.

This helped me get an IP. May not be your problem/solution, but it worked for me.

Disbale bluetooth

This is what works for me. I disable bluetooth headset setting in my phone, then go to usb connection disable advance networking and then enable it again. Then start internet sharing. It works after that.

Ok guys,

This problem is driving me INSANE!

I tried all the suggestions in this thread but I still can't connect via USB. Bluetooth works JUST FINE

I disabled bluetooth, and tried to connect both with and without the "enable advanced functionality" option (under usb-pc), but no luck

Then I even tried to manually assign an IP address for the "remote NDIS adapter", and still no luck. Windows still assigns the 169.254 crap

I also tried connection both enabling and disabling Vista's mobility center (I am using vista)

The interesting thing is the WMODEM (the old app) DOES work for me via USB, but I really dont want to use that.

I am using the ppc6700-WM6 build for sprint (from helmi)

I dont have any VPN software, and I turned off my norton 360 firewall also.

If I may ask, does anyone here force an IP address for their device under the remote NDIS settings???

UPDATE-------> This works FINE on a seperate XP machine. I don't why my vista is being such a pain about getting the IP address from the PPC
