ringtones and alert sounds on storage card, get it working?

I do not have enough space for my alert sounds and ringtones to fit on my verizon 6700 device memory, so I moved them to the storage card. How do I get the phone to find these files off the card so alerts and ringtones play off the card?

You can use a program called PPC-6700 Hacks. It has an option for you to change the directory for your ringtones. However, all system sounds for notifications etc must be in \windows to show up in all apps.

Its a standard cab so... I'm hoping you know what to do!

The devs of the program no longer 'exist' so if there is a problem with me posting it, let me know admins

DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU HAVE THE STOCK PPC6700 ROM!
It's a problem if you do because incoming calls wake up the phone, and if you have a stock ROM (all stock ppc6700 rom have the DSOD problem) alot of times the memory card will not properly boot, which causes the system to hang in the off position. You wont know that it is until you try to turn it on.

Thank you for the file. In that case is there a way to get the system to accept another file format other than .wav for alert sounds? I have wav files that are like 15 seconds long and they take up over a meg each.

As far as I know, there is not. However there is a way you can reduce the size drastically.

I have a little trick I use. Download the free program Audacity from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

When you install and open it for the first time, open the sound file and play it. What I do is watch for when the sound waves are at a silence at the begining or end and highlight that section, and delete it. Alot of times the large amount of space comes from the static at the end of a sound file. Another thing is you can completely remove the left balance of the sound because you wont be able to distinguish from stereo or mono on a sound file

If you want, you can send the sound files or post them and I will optimize them for size without reducing the quality. If I get them within the hour, I may be able to get it done tonight, if not I'll try to do it for you in the morning

There is ppc program called mRing. You can keep all your alerts and ringtones in a folder on the memory. It has allot more features. Like setting specific ringtone for blocked id or unknown callers. I have it on my apache and works great. It dosent have any problems using a ringtone off the card when the phone turns on from sleep mode. it allso has a today plugin built in. But its a bit pricey. "$20"
