my 6700 is possessed and won't stop calling the last dialed

i'm not running any custom roms or anything and after 2 years or so of use i'm having a huge problem with my 6700. if it is not locked it will try to call the last person i dialed. it does this non stop, it will do this non stop. it will literally call someone an unlimited amount of times if i let it.

if its locked you can see on the today screen that it blinks like it is trying to get to the dial pad to call, but since it is locked it doesn't do it.

so the non stop redialing is a really bad problem, but its not as bad as the phone dropping all calls after 2 or so minutes like its begun doing. i feel these problems must be related since the phone no matter what application is just trying to call out.

i cleared all data from my device and reset to factory settings and the problem still happens.

i am completely stumped anyone have ANY ideas on what to try to fix this problem?

Sounds like your call button is sticking. There have been a few threads where this was discussed. The joystick is another one that has been a problem for some. You may have to take it in to your carrier for service.

well the nearest sprint store with service center is about an hour away. i really don't want to take it there unless its a last resort especially after a relatives recent experience there which was horrible.

man, i am searching for "call button sticking" and can't find any threads with this problem.

actually, after some testing i don't think it has anything to do with the call button sticking. if i make a call and connect and hold the green call button in after its connected that doesn't disconnect my call, it just automatically disconnects itself after a minute or so of talking. if the call button or joystick was sticking holding them in during a call doesn't do anything to drop the call immediatly.

I recently had this exact problem with my phone. Which I solved by taking it to a sprint repair facility, demonstrating the problems I was having with my joystick, and call buttons... A tech then ensured there was no water damage, and then gave me a new phone.

The only thing you can honestly do here, is take your phone into a sprint repair facility, if you have the Equipment Repair ($4/mo) on your phone, they will repair it for free, and if they can't repair it, they'll give you a new one. This also works with the Equipment Protection ($7/mo).

With a $500 retail phone, I highly suggest you make sure you have the Equipment Repair on your account -- if you're prone to losing your phone, or susceptible to water damage, go for the Equipment Protection.

well, i've had the phone for over 2 years and have no equipment protection. i don't think you can add it past the 30 initial days can you? if thats the case looks like i'm SOL

Does Sprint do a new evry two program like Verizon? If so, go trade that bad boy in for a Mogul!

they don't have that program. i already have a mogul for myself. this is my old phone the 6700 i gave to my dad.

the biggest problem i'm having really is that when in a call even when it says connected it just goes out. it keeps saying connected on the screen, but its not. then of course when on the home screen it just constantly is trying to call out and the only way to stop it from doing so is to lock the phone.

i thought maybe the rom i had was bad, so i loaded 3 roms from this site. when i started i had the factory sprint rom on the phone. it doesn't matter what rom is on the phone it still has this problem.

i really have no idea what the problem is, everything else works fine but i think this is probably the biggest problem one could have.

There might be a way to disable the key in the registry, but I'm not sure which one would do that. If anyone knows I'm sure he would be very grateful for any further help. If I get a chance after work, I'll look into it.

Here is a link to a thread where someone was having the same problem. In this thread the solution (the last post) was to install AEButtonPlus. Its a program that can disable/remap/assign functons to your buttons. Here is a link to the latest version.
