I would like to make a custom settings OEM and/or cab like the ones described here:

This ensures that your entries will be the "last in" and won't be overwritten.
I am looking for a bit more detail in the "how to" department than provided in the quotes above (I have never made my own OEM or CAB, I just have used ones provided). I searched awhile and found a similarly "light on details" thread here:

http://www.ppcgeeks.com/cab-or-provx...ustom+oem.html

I also know about JBabey's guide on customizing a ROM but I don't think he explains this process - at least not step by step.

I know this isn't the perfect place to post this request, but since it came up in here I thought someone could help by providing more step by step details. Maybe even a sample. Thanks.

i got the new arcsoft mms installed... i tried getting it as clean of an install as possible by removing the old one first, soft resetting, then installing the new one. i did this trying several different things, and it looks like you HAVE to install it to main memory to get it to work, otherwise it will install files to \Extended Rom\Windows or \Storage Card\Windows......

the gui is sweet.... a vast improvement over the previous release... the left softkey is made the "send" button, and when typing in the "To:" field, contact names will pop up just as it does with sms...... there looks to be more options also, but those 2 reasons are the big sellers for me...

unfortunately, when i hit send, it connected to #777 but comes up saying "message has not been sent" or something to that effect.... someone mentioned this release is for gsm phones, but i'm sure there's some way around it we can find..... this is definately an upgrade worth trying to get to work....

also... i HAVE noticed another bug that nobody has mentioned ANYWHERE.... i dont think its specific to this kitchen and/or rom, but its killing me...

When you view your tasks and select "Sort By" to "Due Date", then set "Filter" to "Active Tasks", the tasks are no longer in necessary order by "Due Date".....

anybody else experiencing this?

I think there might be more to the problem than just this DLL in and of itself.

I use Alltel as well, and I have been running v1.0.2 since it was released. SMS works fine for me and I haven't seen any of the issues reported. I checked my registry and for the above key I have the "stock" setting (HTC_SMS_Providers.dll). Yet, it all works fine for me.

So, perhaps it is something else, or a combination of this DLL and one of the OEMs? I'm running a pretty basic ROM... I can get you a list of OEMs if it will help.
answerman, Thanks. Currently we are sticking with suggesting

avatar120, it's not clear from your last message on this what your final outcome was. Did the OEM_Helmi_Addition patch fix your issue? Did the additional SMS_Providers.dll registry change do so? Did neither?

Everyone, if you have experienced concatenated SMS From and Message fields please chime in with the results of these patches. Again we currently advise trying first.
Hi,
I'm using a Sprint PPC-6700. I've carefully gone through all the steps outlined above. I've been very careful to slim down the optional stuff to almost nothing.

Still getting text messages mixed in with the sender info.

What's the next step? Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I'm resetting the phone after registry changes, maybe I need to find an older DLL?

Thanks,
B.

I have the same exact problem and issues.... =*( Any help would be appreciated.

Further support/development of 1.0.2 will be minimal, as focus has moved to the 1.0.3 release. We continue to move forward quickly, and 1.0.4 should be released within a day or so.

If you have any remaining issue with 1.0.2, please try one of the newer kitchens and report back to the related bug collection thread if you continue to have problems.

Thanks.

It would be nice if you guys could drop this into the "Change Boot Screen" folder for folks that run into errors like I did.

Add to ReadMe.txt
Move comdlg32.ocx to C:\Windows\system32
Start > Run > regsvr32 \windows\system32\COMDLG32.OCX [Enter]
Attached Files
File Type: zip comdlg32_569.zip (60.4 KB, 2 views) Click for barcode!

I've tried that here, but I still get the same error

I've just been converting them old-school... I convert the image to rsb using rsbbmp and then edit out the 28bit header in a hex editor, and use the patchlogo tool to add it, hehe.
