Verizon to Cricket Flash

Hey guys. I recently flashed my phone to Cricket from VZW and am having issues doing a *228. I still get the verizon message asking for the update. I believe something in my EPST settings may be incorrect. I am currently in Chicago (their new market) and I am unsure of what the correct SID/NID or PRL would be for my area. Any incite into this? I can post any info you may need to assist me.

Thanks

Re: Verizon to Cricket Flash

EDIT:

Ok since I couldn't find any fix for this online after searching all last night, I decided to reflash. I used the ppckitchen's BuildOS (20931 Build) to do it. I selected Cricket as the carrier and I believe I followed all the directions to the T. Still no luck in getting rid of the Verizon OTA.

I also changed the SID to one they used years ago to roam here on another network (Sprint) and even thoroughly checked over my EPST settings twice.

This leads me to believe in the possibility that the Verizon Ext Rom files may still be present or that there is something else I may be missing in the EPST settings that would cause the OTA to still be there.

I have my ESN registered with Cricket and my account already setup as of yesterday morning and have filled in the info I could find online about switching over via EPST settings.

Is there something I'm missing? Another possibility that's causing this to occur?

Please let me know any suggestions and/or fixes any of you guys may have, I'm going crazy with this. (Apparently I'm not the first to have this issue according to other forums, but no one provided fixes for it. I've just seen a lot of thread hijacking and 20+ pages if posts that I went through dilegently to no avail.)

Thanks!

EDIT2:

I also failed to mention I've been working with a Cricket PRL since I flashed it the first time. That was the first step I did.

Re: Verizon to Cricket Flash

Bump.

Any ideas anyone?

I can't make calls or *228 without a Verizon message. I only have one theory left and that is that there are VZW carrier files stuck in my EXT Rom. I've tried a few methods in trying to view the files there and delete them but none have worked so far. My device data shows that my ext rom has 10mb total with 9mb in use but I see no files in that folder at all...

I've been searching the net for 4 days now and don't know what to do....

Re: Verizon to Cricket Flash

Thanks for the replies but I've already tried both those to update the prl. The phone is reading the prl correctly when I searched for it. It seems to have a roaming icon at the top though. I've posted on howardforums about it as well and it seems their theories are the same. I did go to colorada and tried every single evdo prl and half the non-evdo ones to no avail.

Is it possible that I cannot do an OTASP with a prl from a different area? Either way my normal calls are being forwarded through vzw as well. I get a message saying something like "You're call is being forwarded to an external operator where you can complete your call with a credit or debit card".

I'm more than lost at this point...

Re: Verizon to Cricket Flash

Me toooo,
I just received WM6.1 from the big studs yesterday. Completed the kitchen with cricket.
I can't get p***** the last step which has been stated dial *228 and boom you're done. I've tried various PRL #. I tried *22804 and still got verizon. Everything I've tried I end up getting the big evil empire.
I will keep trying but I'm afraid I may end up with a brick since I'm a complete dumbo in this area and its pure luck that I've not destroyed a few phone by now.
Does anybody have an idea how to get p***** verizon with the *228 call?
Thanks
You guys are awesome.

Re: Verizon to Cricket Flash

OK I finally got the *228 number to call cricket instead of verizon.
Perhaps some other nobs can relate to this but my mistake was when I was trying to enter the PRL number. I grabbed a list of PRL from http://corolada.com/prl/cricket/38140.prl they all worked here in Portland except 1030. Well I was trying to type in the number in my 6700. Very dumb. OK new people learn from my 4 hours of mistakes on this one and drag a PRL file on to your mobile device then when you enter ##775, put in your six "0's", find that PRL file behind the browse button. Accept the PRL file and boom you will get the phone to call someone other than the evil empire. However.... My phone says, "we are sorry we can't program your phone at this time."
So I'm missing one step somewhere. I'm thinking I may have messed something up when I hit ##778 and started changing numbers within the EPST.
I put my 10 digit phone number for the MSID,
my 10 digit phone number for the MDN,
7 digit phone number for the MIN1,
area code for the MIN2
10 digit number for MSID.
I followed a great set of instruction on the HF but I'm missing something.
I guess I'm like an eager student wanting the teacher to review my work.
I started Friday first making sure my new Ebay purchase xv6700 worked. So I spent about 2 hours getting the phone to pick up my in home wireless. VERY COOL by the way.
Then my real journey started after the kids went to bed Friday night. I got a good load for WM6.1 for Verizon just about 6 hours later that night. In the morning I switched the kitchen to Cricket. Only took 30 minutes so that was cool to see some progress. I then tried to flash the phone to cricket and here I am. I spent easily 7 hours on Sat trying to flash the darn thing and I think I missed one step.
The phone is awesome. WM6.1 works great for as far as I can tell. Thank you PPC kitchen studs.
My only two issues are the missing cricket step and ...
When I'm trying to load another program unrelated to the kitchen I get an error of " updater.exe. is not able to bla bla because system.data.sqlserverce v.3.0.36 is missing.
On this last issue I don't know yet if that was my bad kitchen or the programs bad program. I did select the ingredients from the kitchen that appeared to satisfy that need but it didn't work.
So thanks again to all. I can say that I'm pretty addicted to this site and it's kind of cool that you all helped a complete tard take a stock phone and within a day it gots some sweet upgrades.
Thanks

Re: Verizon to Cricket Flash

OK I did it.
I flashed a phone OMG. I only am impressed because I know how dumb I am in this area.
So my problem was I had touched the MSID number during the instructions.
As your teacher always said RTFD!
So I called Cricket and asked for my MIN #. Then I used ##778, unlock code of 000000. 1st screen it comes to replaced my BS number with the MIN number cricket gave me under the MSID. Thanks InSanecain!
Remember fellow NOBS, keep digging and searching the answers are all here. The studs probably get annoyed answering question from 1-2 years ago all the time so keep looking.
Thank you everyone.

Oh how I long to hear those words I don't claim to be an expert, but please, for God's sake use the search, or Google.
