Ok now for the additional inquiries...

Guys when using the newer radio does this appear to improve battery life at all? Or does it worsen it?

phoenx06 07-14-2007 03:00 PM

I get alot better battery life, and I cant give exact stats, but my wifi seems a bit faster. Much better signal than original radio, but I not much more from the 1.27 radio. I was using the 1.27 radio for awhile, and I am getting more battery than I was then. I also just did a prl update for the first time ever a week or two ago, and that helped alot also

Jmckinney1976 07-14-2007 03:05 PM

What is prl and how do I update it?

phoenx06 07-14-2007 03:08 PM

PRL is your preferred roaming list. It is the list of towers your phone has to look for. By updating it, it gives your phone all the latest data on new towers and evdo service. I believe for verizon you just dial #22899 (someone correct me if I'm wrong, I tend to forget things, lol)

Edit: I thought I had it wrong. I stand corrected it is *22899

well this is what iv got.

before upgrade sitting in my living room 1 bar and EVDO battery usage = 1 hour of constant internet in EVDO at 1 bar 80% batt left over

after upgrade sitting in my living room 3 bars and EVDO battery usage = 1 hour of constant internet in EVDO at 3 bars 90% batt left over

so i would say thats a 3 fold improvement on signal strength and a 10% increase in battery life ( if i were to do the math its probably less than 10% but i dont feel like doing math right now ) so 3 thumbs up and kudos on this one

it seems that every few days we see a development that makes our device more and more bullet proof " ROM's, Radios, and more apps and toys than ever" i am now convinced that the PPC 6700 may indeed be the device that first achieves true A.I. and takes over the human race! and that is so FREAKIN COOL!!! LOL

much props....my apartments get NO sprint signal....always roaming....or the EV sign and no bar ...i can confirm that i have 2-3 bars on EV and if im in roam i get full bars....may actually stay here afterall instead of moving...

btw....colonels new rom with updated nk.nbf file definitely improved my reception also for some reason)...

Where, oh where...

Can someone help me out here?
Okay, I put the phone in bootloader mode, simple...
Ran the 'radio RUU' thingie...
But when it let me know what my current system is and what it was gonna upgrade to all the fields were blank. I tried it twice and on both attempts it gave me an Error 150 - Unable to upgrade utillity, I think it said... My current system is a Sprint 6700 with the official 2.06 ROM and I'm running on the 1.27 radio. The instructions seemed simple enough, yet I managed to screw up somewhere. Can anyone help me out with figuring out this problem? Thank you very much in advance for any advice you can give me.

Sounds like the radio file is not present. Verify that it is after extracting. One other thing, make sure you are running the APACUpgradeUt_noID.exe.

I'll try it again and let you know the result. also, I had a bit of a problem etting out of Bootloader Mode. I tried using that ExitBootloader program and it said something like, "disable Activesync USB Hub". I don't know how to do that, and I guess I got lucky because I tried pressing the same keys that got me into Bootloader Mode again and they got me out of it...the phone came back on like it would if I were simply soft reseting. Might that have something to do with why the process didn't go through?

The same thing happened to me; I just closed & ran APACUpgradeUt_noID.exe again and it worked just fine.
