2 types of 6700s (+ conspiracy theories + bluetooth issues)
Has anyone noticed that there are 2 types of 6700s, and it doesn't appear to me to follow the Sprint/Verizon versions? The reason I say this is that when I hard reset my XV6700 (NO MATTER WHAT ROM IS INSTALLED - I have tried them all), it says, "Press Y to restore factory default Press N to exit". It has never asked me to press "Space", but it does on a colleague's phone that I have updated the rom on several times. In reading through the rom threads, it seems that the majority of people have to press space. So my conclusion is that there are 2 (atleast) different hardware versions of the 6700. Most likely, my version is the older of the 2.
So who cares? Exactly what I was thinking... except... for all those threads I have read where someone or a few people have been having a particular problem with their phone that others can't seem to replicate. It seems possible that at least some of these issues could be related to this. Am I off base here? Has this been discussed somewhere?
For example, I have been having a bluetooth issue since I can't remember when. My bluetooth connection terminates many times throughout the day (either after a period of inactivity, my headset has been out of range for a short time, or during a long call) - on all rom updates I have tried. Most of the time, the wireless manager indicates that bluetooth is ON, but when I go to bluetooth settings the check box is off). Very frustrating! No regedits, cab installs, rom updates, programs (phonealarm, btcrawler), etc. have made a difference. By the way, I have a plantronics voyager headset that also pairs with my office phone, but it happens whether I am in the office or not).
So unless I can find a solution soon I'll going back to the latest offical rom. Any ideas would be much appreciated...
