Evdo only when forced

Sorry that i may seem as such a n00b here, but a few weeks ago i used BuildOS to upgrade my Apache to WinMo6. I didn't like the way it worked at first (because after the fact i had settings not set right ) so i reverted back to 5.0 using a stock Sprint "upgrade". Now my phone would not go into EVDO mode at all. I spoke to a Sprint rep over the phone & none of the reprovisioning or the sort of tricks or reprogramming worked. So figuring i screwed something up again, i reflashed to the 6.1 ROM. Now my phone will only operate in EVDO if i force it. Any other way and it reverts to 1xRTT. The radio is 1.41. I don't know what i could've done wrong to make it do this, but EVDO did work when i first had 6.1 on my phone. Any thoughts?
