mogul questions

The usb port on my ppc6700 going out. This will be the third one with the same issue. I am going to use my tep to get it replaced. I was thinking about asking asurion to replace it with a mogul since it keeps going bad with the same issue. Before doing this though I have a few questions about the mogul.

1. What are the major known issues with the mogul?
2. Will the desktop/wall charger from the 6700 work with the mogul?
3. Will the extended battery from the 6700 work with the mogul?
4. Will the mogul fit in the aluminum case that the 6700 uses?
5. Last but most important, is it worth going from the 6700 to the mogul?

Oops. One last thing. Will the buildos and kitchen I downloaded from my 6700 work with the mogul.

Major Issues
  • white spots develop on the screen after awhile (I've had mine for about a month and it has already started to develop some spots, but the ones on my screen are only visible during the first loading screen - same with my girlfriends.)
  • hardware keyboard issue are common from what I've read. Mine has not developed any problems, but my girlfriends has.
I have been using my 6700 wall charger with no problems. If the desktop charger you're talking about is the cradle then no. The USB cables work fine.

The extended battery will not work.

Not sure what aluminum case you're talking about, but i'm going to assume the answer to this question is no.

The RUU you built for you 6700 shouldn't work. But, you can start a new project with all of the same selections and rebuild it for the Mogul. I did this just a couple days ago. Flashing the mogul takes a few extra steps the first time you do it, but there is a great walkthrough here on the forum that will help you out.

As for going from the 6700 to the 6800, I agree with weedahoe and say go for it.

Re: mogul questions

anything that you have that is unique to the shape of the apache (ie cradle) will not work with the mogul because it is not designed to.

Re: mogul questions

I agree with the above posts, but would like to note that the white spots are not inevitable. I've been through 4-5 Moguls and none of them developed white spots. Maybe I was just lucky though. Go for it!

Re: mogul questions

And just to come back and add a bit, Ive had my 68 since last summer and have had no issues out of it what-so-ever. We all know as with any electronic device, something can always go wrong and just because something is new means nothing.

Re: mogul questions

Yes it is worth it. My Mogul has a severe white spot. But doesn't seem to make it less functional.

Re: mogul questions

Get a Vogue, a Diamond, or a Touch Pro. The Mogul's RAM issues are stupid.

Re: mogul questions

I don't think they would let me have a vogue or diamond or touch pro with the insurance. As far as I know asurion might let me have a mogul to replace this 6700 since it is the 3rd one with the same issue. What RAM issues are you referring to?
