Bad News Bears >> A2DP quality and Plantronics 260

I saw that CNET gave the Plantronics an 8.0/10 for superb sound quality and useful dongle. Anyhow, this is my first stereo bluetooth headset...and I'm like...psht...this sucks! I didn't really know what to expect, but I thought if your source mp3 file, for example, is 128 kbps...it'll stream over bluetooth at 128kpbs or just a little less. It seems even my highest of bitrate music streams at horrible quality (using laptop's bluetooth). I even suspect that it's emitting a mono signal and I"m just getting mono.

I haven't even been able to get it to work properly with my 6700. It skips randomly, or doesn't play at all. I"m using the latest SaridNours Rom (AKU 3.5). Any suggestions?

Any word on a practical broadcomm stack for the 6700? I've seen the Widcomm one that's been attempted, but I still read several have problems with it, or it's just a hassle to operate.

Thanks

Ideas...

Use the Dongle... I had the same issue with the headset I bought, thought the native laptop bluetooth worked great... (Using Vista) There is a thread about a month old on it in this forum...

i'm sorry I don't quite understand what you mean by use the dongle. The dongle plays/stops/pauses and changes the music perfectly for the 6700. I just don't hear anything.

I am using big J's latest "reloaded" 3.5. It works great with my S9's. Fully functional integrated controls. no skipping even with WMP. sound quality better than I expected although not as good as my wifes tmo dash with wm6 and BT 2.0. Also it took a couple soft resets after the rom upgrade for bt to work smoothly and stop skipping. now it almost never skips.

Just to let you know the sound quality on the 260 isn't that great. It's horrible compared to the Plantronics 590. I wish I never sold that.

I know! But many respectable raters online gave it very good to excellent sound quality. Even on another forum for 6700 someone told me the 260 is a good headset. What am I missing? LOL

Did u have the 590A's or E's. Because of you look at this review:

http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones-h...tag=prod.txt.1

verus this one:

http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones-h...tag=prod.txt.1
straight from the review :

"The bottom line: The Plantronics Pulsar 260's excellent sound quality and user-friendly controls make it a great stereo Bluetooth headset."

Here's another review I read on the 260:
http://www.infosyncworld.com/reviews/n/7903.html

and another
http://reviews.digitaltrends.com/review4441.html

Two of the three say very good sound quality. I went with the 260's instead of the 590's because of price and because I wans something I can workout with.

I thought bluetooth is supposed to be like streaming. YOu can stream data over bt connection, and, although u're not going to maximize effieciency you can still get good rates. I just don't get how my 320 Kpbs music sounds like something from a 1920's era radio.

The A and E don't really make a difference with the 590, the A just came with an adapter for mp3 players and stuff. Only reason I bought the 260 and sold the 590 was because it was kinda big and the 260 was released. I thought the sound quality would have been around the same but I was wrong. I tried the 260 on the Treo700p also and the quality was bad compared to the 590. If I knew the 260 sounded the way it sounded, I would have just dealt with the 590 being big.

holy moly! The difference is remarkable. It's still not totally up to my expectations, but now I can feel the music as opposed to before. Microsoft sucks...they can't make a stinking A2DP profile that works well. Apparently people are discovering the Plantronics 260 has varying quality is because these headphones don't work well with Microsoft Stack.

I'm so lookin forward to the day out friends here help us remove ms stack and solely use the broadcomm with our 6700's.
