Misaligned Digitizer/ Touch Screen

Recently, I have had problems with the touch screen becoming misaligned so that when I touch one place, it activates something near it. I have tried realigning it using the control panel, which works for a little while but eventually becomes messed up again. Is this a hardware or software problem? or could it be a combo of both?

I am running Big J's latest rom with no extra software.

I dont know if you have used a forum search before but they can be quite useless for many searches. For example, searching for misaligned screen or screen problems gives hundreds of topics that have nothing to do with screen problems, just an occasional mention of the screen somewhere in the 80th post on the 11th page.
If you could tell me where it is covered or give me a lesson on searching more effectively, it would be greatly appreciated.

I agree on the forum's search engines. It's hard to search any forum built on this layout. I also have the same problem as you, nikonx, which i thought was because i had dropped it too much.

I feel you on this one. The search bites!

And to the people who are quick to tell someone to search, unless you were standing over their shoulder, how do you know whether they did or didnt?

Many times of late when I do a search, NO MATTER WHAT I AM SEARCHING FOR, I get the EXACT same results. Imagine that

Due to the type of forum this is, digitizer is damned near a common word. I, for one, dont have days to devote to one search that is going to result in pages upon pages of what turns out to be useless, time wasted reading; with NO direct answer in sight.

Hardware

This has happened to me on two phones and both times it was after I dropped them (and it didn't happen before that). I was hoping it was some glitchy freeware I installed but I confirmed on both phones that the problem still exists after hard resets on original Sprint ROM. I had to take them in for replacement.

searching tip.

Here's a tip for making searching less frustrating. Choose the radio button to display results as posts instead of topics. This makes it a lot easier. I too had this problem until I upgraded my Rom. Hasn't happened since.
