PPC-6700 now will not install rom update!

I'm pressing the record, power, and then putting the pen into the hole all at the same time. It won't go into bootloader mode. What am I doing wrong?

Edit: I've tried both power buttons. neither of them does any good. what am I doing wrong here?

press all those buttons at the same time..

power button on top, near the MiniSD Card.
just make sure you get the 2 button pressed, then hit the
reset button.

Should put you into "serial mode" and
after you plug in, should switch to "USB"

if that is still a no-go... i would try a hard reboot
and see if that engages the interface..

Good Luck

Okay. I got it into bootloader mode, finally. I'm trying to load BigJ's rom, and it's going 'ROM NOT SUITED FOR THIS DEVICE'. Anyone know what's up with that?

What do you mean both power buttons? The 6700 only has one power button on the top of the phone. You should be pressing the two buttons on the top left corner of the phone. The button above the volume slider is the notes button, and the one to the left of the mini-sd slot is the power.

EDIT: Im too late

Just to clarify for future readers, there is a power symbol on the End (Red) hardkey. This is not the power button used for bootloader.

Okay, so what's up with the 'not suited for this device' message, and how to I get it to load?

I could be wrong, but I think you need to do this:

1 - unlock your extended.rom If you have already flashed, run the Unlock ext.rom file found under programs and soft reset.

2 - delete everything in your extended.rom2 folder

3 - soft reset, and ensure the files are still gone

This is from the thread about your rom

I did that already. Sometimes the window disappears, and sometimes the window will stay and go 'not suited for this device'. The process keeps running, however.

Anyone have a clue on this?

Edit: and it's doing this on both Colonel's and BigJ's.

It's been a while and I still haven't gotten it to work. The extended rom is cleared, so I don't know why it's not working.

Well, when I say extended rom, I mean \extended_rom\ in total commander. I can't get to this extended.rom2 folder or whatever it's named, even though I've unlocked the extended rom and I've told resco explorer to show hidden files.
