New Kitchen (Helmi_APAC_WM3.5_NEW_Kitchen_R3) Bugs

Here's a bug collection thread for the new kitchen R3. I'm going to try to gather all posted bugs into this first message, so folks don't need to poke all over to find them.

If you have bug please let us know...
Please be specific.
Please provide steps to reproduce.

=====================

=====================
Remaining issues
=====================

=#1= OEM\Optional_Smartdial:

The Optional_Smartdial package contains...
contactcmd.exe
smartdialing.dll
...which also reside in the theme folders...
CaptainJager Theme
DespiserBlack Theme
...and cause BuildOS to error.

Deselect "HTC Smartdial", or select another theme to avoid the error.

=#2= OEM\Optional_TrayLaunch:

Blank, non-functional icons appear in the task area if any of the following OEM packages aren't installed at the same time...
-Optional_TaskMgr&RegEditor
-Optional_Total Commander
-Optional_acbToggleBT
-Optional_psShutXP

Code:
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PHM\TrayLaunch]
"Items"=dword:3
"Item1"="\\Windows\\Start Menu\\Programs\\Search.lnk"
"Item2"="\\Windows\\Start Menu\\Programs\\Tasks.lnk"
dont forget to leave a blank space after the last line.
=#3= Excess nk.nbf:

There is a copy of nk.nbf in \Upgrade, but since we create that file during the Encode steps it doesn't need to be included in the Kitchen package. Not having this file also reduces the number of prompts seen during the CreateROM process by eliminating "Overwrite existing file?.

Maybe we should rewrite CreateROM.bat to delete these files on every iteration rather than only on error.

=#4= OEM\Optional_WeatherPanel:

The WeatherPanel packages causes the phone to connect to the data network on first boot. This is bad for people who do not have a data package and may pay high prices for cellular data service.

An option to disable the cellular data service would address this.

This key in the RGU controls it

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\WeatherPanel]
"DLL"="\\Windows\\Marsware\\WeatherPanel\\WeatherPanel.dll"
"Enabled"=dword:0
"Flags"=dword:0
"InstallPath"="\\Windows\\Marsware\\WeatherPanel"
"Options"=dword:1
"Order"=dword:3
"Type"=dword:4
notice this

"Enabled"=dword:0

setting that to 0 has it disabled by default... just turn it on in the today screen plugins sections.
=#5= Flashlight:

Optional_Flashlight_LeftSoftkey:
This OEM fails to set the left softkey, it is set as "Calendar" instead. Fix this by removing the the excess ";" in the rgu as shown below...

Code:
;Flashlight Button
;============================================================================
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\TODAY\KEYS\112]
@="Flashlight"
"Open"="VJCandelaLite.exe"
Optional_Flashlight and Optional_Flashlight_Hardkey:
These option.xml tips needs to be updated to align with their button configuration.

=#6= Bluetooth Bugs:

Same problem with R3... Even with the Broadcom Stack, my A2DP works flawless now... BUT, my headset does not. The headset works as headphones... but when calling someone, it doesn't work. Its a Moto 350.... Can someone help? I can't get a ticket for using my handset.
=#?= Unconfirmed Bugs:

If anyone can confirm the resolution / lack thereof of any of the following issues from past releases please post.

Tweaker: Produces error on Save.
BT PAN
O2: Closing ICS via O2 prevents it starting again till a reset.

=====================
Issues
=====================

These issues have been addressed, but require alternate selections within BuildOS.

=#1= OneNote:

The default OneNote package will install extra executables and icons that act as shells for the the other Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). If the "Office Mobile" package is not installed, use of these icons/exes will result in error. To address that, while in the BuildOS tool:
-Deselect "OneNoteMobile"
-Select "OneNoteMobile (Only)"

The alternate package does not include the excess folder/icons/exes, and will place a OneNote icon directly into "Programs".

=#2= VoiceCommand:

The OEM\Optional_Voice Command 1.6 UK OEM1.0.1 package is selected by default but will not function. Both it and "OEM\Optional_Voice_Command_1.6_US_OEM1.0.0" require "voicecmd.exe" to be functional. Without that they cause an error on startup.

To correct for this:
-Deselect "Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 UK Version (Choose Either US or UK Version) **Requires VoiceCmd.exe"
-Select "Cyberon Voice Commander"

...or...

-Add your the appropriate "VoiceCmd.exe" file to
OEM\Optional_Voice_Command_1.6_US_OEM1.0.0
...or...
OEM\Optional_Voice Command 1.6 UK OEM1.0.1
-Rebuild dsm

I created extra OEM packages to copy VoiceCmd.exe over, that I just drag between releases. Since VoiceCmd.exe can't be included in the Kitchen package, perhaps the free "Optional_Cyberon_Voice_Commander" should be the default.

With R2, It wasn't the closing of all programs via O2 that was a problem, just ICS.

My misunderstanding, I've updated the first post. Please let us know if this still effects r3.

Yes. To install old OEMs you just need to place them into the OEM folder and add an option.xml to them so that they show up in the BuildOS tool. Certain packages will require some additional tweaking to be compatible with the new ROM / avoid conflicts with existing packages.

Windows search and Windows Grep...
http://www.wingrep.com/
...can help to identify conflict points.

Also be sure to rebuild dsm files if you adjust the files of an OEM. "b00n Assistance.pdf" provides instructions around most of these steps.

Actually, yes and no. I have not had time to make it an option yet Friguy. So, to do this, not only will you have to install your own MMS OEM, but you will have to go in and manuall remove any conflicting files from the MMS OEM in the kitchen. You will probably need to edit the rgu as well.

I cannot even tell you if it would work after all of this since there may be soem issues with dependencies. If it does, please keep track of everything you do and let me know.

Not really a bug, but the default selections after initial unpacking will not build - CaptainJager theme and HTC SmartDial both contain contactcmd.exe.

Kolano, it just wont run on boot

gg, yeah, I am still working on that. The ones are in the themes because the skins had them included and I haven't had time to see if the phone skins work with the default smartdial.
