I doubt that the USB ports being 1.1 is the issue....
Have you tried another USB device with those ports to see if the ports are themselves not working? |

I saw a "USB drivers being updated" MSI message appear during the installation of ActiveSync 4.5, so I thought that ActiveSync was all I needed ... ¿GotJazz? |

This may or may not help, but be sure to launch internet sharing before you connect the phone to the computer, it gets seen as a rndis network device, so, you can't just enable while it is connected. just unplug it, connect to the evdo, launch internet sharing, click connect, then plug it in your usb on your computer...
//edit also be sure to have dhcp client service running on your pc if you're 2k/xp/vista... |

I did the following to attempt Internet Sharing: 1. Installed WinXP SP2 2. Installed ActiveSync 4.5 3. Set ActiveSync "Allow USB Connections" to disabled 4. Started Internet Sharing on my XV6700 5. My XV6700 connects to the EVDO network 6. Plugged the USB cable into the PC Then I saw the "USB Device not Recognized" message. Normally, I follow steps (3) => (6) on my laptop computer (which has USB 2.0 ports), and I never have any problems. I checked, and the DHCP client was running on the PC. I can connect to the internet via NetZero on the PC, but I was looking for a faster connection than dial-up when I'm working on the PC. Sigh ... I wonder if this is the first time I've seen an incompatibility between USB 1.1 and USB 2.0? Or am I missing something else? ¿GotJazz? |

Do you only have USB 1.1 ports (no USB 2.0 ports anywhere else on the machine)? Did you do anything different than just loading ActiveSync 4.5? |
