Re: It was fun!
Since you are with VZW I would go with a 6800. You can do a lot more with it than the TP. Now granted the TP is an upgrade from the 6700 but IMO the TP isnt an upgrade over the 6800. The TP cannot do "true" GPS as VZW locked it out. Maybe someone will unlock it and maybe not. At least with the 6800 on VZW you can do a Sprint radio and do "true" GPS along with aGPS. The RAM on the 6800 and TP is both 128 so nothing needs to be said there. When I had a Chocolate it didnt have buttons but had those pressure pads and they never worked right. You could adjust the sensitivity on them but never could get it right. The TP doesnt have buttons like the 6800 so I think you will start to see ppl complain about the response of those pressure pads. The UI is slow and I was NOT impressed with it when I went to the store last week to play with it. I do like the magnetic stylus but do not like the way the split the KB on it. All I can tell you is you can do more with the 6800 right now.

Re: It was fun!
I am actually with Sprint. So the GPS works great, and it has the more memory. And I like the keyboard layout better than the AT&T Fuze or Verizon TP personally. My only real complaint is that my 6700 played video files with better frame rates than the TP. A lot of my friends upgraded to the Mogul/6800. For me it just wasn't enough of a step up from the 6700. The GPS addition was nice but I already had a bluetooth GPS with the 6700.
I will admit that I do miss the hardware buttons for internet and camera shutter. Also the screen rotates 90 degrees when the keyboard is just slightly opened. I used to open my 6700 keyboard a bit to expose the spacebar for use when web browsing to scroll down a page. What I like most about the TP is the VGA screen which the 6800 didn't offer. I'll have to keep my eye on the pressure pad like you mentioned. Didn't realize that they could cause problems. |

Re: It was fun!
Yeah, I didnt see your carrier in your profile so you might wanna add it. If VZW gave out the same device as Sprint then I would be more inclined to upgrade. But the screwed up a good device and are $50 more than Sprint. Now thats retarded.
All the same though, good luck with your new toy and congrats. |

Re: It was fun!
Thanks! I updated my profile.
I couldn't agree more. VZW really seems to struggle with releasing non-crippled hardware. I know they now claim to be an open network but I wonder how difficult it would be to get a sprint or other CDMA device onto their network. Something tells me it's not as easy as just walking in with one. |
