Re: Phone Issues
wait for the blackberry bold or treo 800w... VZW is raping all of our phones right now so that they are crap compared to their "equivalents" on other networks. I want to jump ship but I have 6 lines and the fees make it not worth it to leave, plus the reception is good.
My apache is horrible. I need to restart it about 2 times a day, it often just wont turn back on so it crashes and I don't find out for 2 hours or more, I can't wait for a new phone. I just want anything that is actually reliable. But at the same time I like all the things I can do on this phone, the websites I can visit that other phones have trouble with, etc. The 6800 is basically the same unreliable device just with wireless G and rev A (I believe) capabilities. You definitely need to get a new phone, I am unsure if the 6800 is gonna be the best bet though. I am in the same boat as you and I really wouldn't consider it. |

Re: Phone Issues
have you tried an exchange via insurance (if you have it)? Otherwise, wait til you can get the Touch Pro. It blows the 6800 away...

Re: Phone Issues
I would either get the 6800, which I love mine. Or get a Sprint Touch Pro and fix to work on Verizon. The Verizon Touch Pro is a peice of trash...

Re: Phone Issues
Yup. I called today and chewed them out about how much more they charge for their phones. The Touch Pro is 50 bux more with less features. What a joke. I more than likley will just end up buying the Sprint one and convert it...

Re: Phone Issues
thought about doing that as well, its alot of steps (12 I think?). and I have the NE2 and contract renewal both available which makes it hard to *not* take advantage of. I guess I could use it all and ebay the thing and buy a sprint TP. ugh sucha pain in the ***.
after playing with the iphone I bought for my mom, Id be happy with it if they could get mobileME working and it was on verizon's network. ugh again. hahah |

Re: Phone Issues
Agreed, since you are with VZW I would go with a 6800. You can do a lot more with it than the TP. Now granted the TP is an upgrade from the 6700 but IMO the TP isnt an upgrade over the 6800. The TP cannot do "true" GPS as VZW locked it out. Maybe someone will unlock it and maybe not. At least with the 6800 on VZW you can do a Sprint radio and do "true" GPS along with aGPS. The RAM on the 6800 and TP is both 128 so nothing needs to be said there. When I had a Chocolate it didnt have buttons but had those pressure pads and they never worked right. You could adjust the sensitivity on them but never could get it right. The TP doesnt have buttons like the 6800 so I think you will start to see ppl complain about the response of those pressure pads. The UI is slow and I was NOT impressed with it when I went to the store last week to play with it. I do like the magnetic stylus but do not like the way the split the KB on it. All I can tell you is you can do more with the 6800 right now and you need to go in the store and see a TP for yourself.

Re: Phone Issues
thankyou to everyone that responded but yea you all basically confirmed my beliefs that Verizon is the overprotective mother of the smartphone business they basically restrict anything that could benefit us in any way i think from what i have heard that i will be going with the xv6800 on the sole basis that i cant take the apache for much longer and i have already found some good roms for it and i like all the features
