I hope you guys figure it out. I actually dumped.vista and went back to xp just so I could have unrestricted access to my 6700. the new mobile sync center sucks compared to activsync.

It could be UAC in Vista. I have it disabled here.
Disabling it for long periods of time is not recommended, but you could try disabling it for times you need to access your PPC\Windows folder.

Edit: I just turned UAC on and tried and I can still see the windows folder and all hidden/rom files in it. The only other thing I can think of is that I was running with UAC off when I created the sync partnership. Or do any of you who are having problems have the extended rom unlocked on your phones? I do here.

Also, which registry editor are you trying to install? Could you post a link?
I am running Vista Ultimate 32bit with all available updates (yes I double checked).

Please post a screenshot of your PPC /Windows folder in explorer under Vista.

I scrolled down a bit before I took the shot to show some of the hidden/ROM flagged files too.

I had the same problem. By going into Control Panel>Folder Options>View Tab and unselecting "Hide Protected Operating System Files" as well as selecting "Show Hidden Files and Folders" seemed to have corrected the issue (for now).
