I just want to make sure I understand this here. are you using the ppc to tether and use VPN, or are you trying to connect your PPC device directly to your VPN with out your notebook???

I was hoping that it would be about accessing files from networked pc's at work/home using the 6700 while not tethered, just using wifi, or EVDO and the apache. </hijack>

OK several things could be happening here:
1. Sounds like you are hitting the server, but it is not finalizing the connection, which is usually due to a failure to create a secure tunnel 2. Depending on your VPN hardware, does your VPN on your PC require additional authentication methods, aka group authentications on top of your typical user authentication 3. The network may require asset tags for approved hardware to connect to the VPN, and if it is not approved, then it is dropping ur connection. Ex. Symantec Enforcement Agent is a perfect example of software/hardware network authentication methods 4. Missing a protocol 5. PPC device is not allowing more then necessary connections (socks) I could continue to go on for an hour with possible problems. Do you have any error codes? Since you are using your work PC, I am assuming you have a VPN client installed and pre-configured for your network access, ex. Cisco, Nortel, Inteligate ect. and they have special configurations depending on your network requirements. Just dont have enough details to give you a good solid final answer on the root cause. Hope this helps to point you in the right direction |

if it is a network drive mapping issue, try using Resco File Explorer while connected to VPN and see if that will allow you to remain connected.
Sorry for the questions and additional troubleshooting, but no where in this post have you really outlined that the drive mapping was your main concern. Also I found a useful post that was a bit old, but maybe of some use. The Windows File Explorer and IE have a registry entry that have a hard max # of connections allowed. I had similar problems with certain web pages, until I fixed this entry. I will edit this post when I find the link. Here you go: http://www.ppcgeeks.com/increase-max...uot-t1365.html |
