Just out of curiosity, what setup VPN-wise do you have? Are you using a Windows XP machine as a server and going through WM5's VPN setup? I used to have my setup like that, but quickly jumped over to OpenVPN which I prefer since I can access my hard drive shares and music quickly.

Ah, hmm, does it disconnect after a set amount of time of usage? I'm not trying to move the discussion away from the shortcut, but I had to change a few settings for WM5'S VPN so that I could stay connected for more than a few minutes.

My memory was a bit iffy, yeah it actually was only a few seconds (initially). What exactly did you want to do with VPNing since the built-in WM5 VPN client does have a few limitations. Depending on what you wish to do, since finals are over for me for the semester, I can assist you with getting VPN to work.

If anything, I may take advantage of your dilemma to create a step-by-step guide to getting WM5's VPN up and running for the 6700.

Ah, is the 2k3 box your own or is it your company's? I believe that the only way to be able to access your files is by using something such as file explorer is with OpenVPN.

I can throw together a guide for setting up a VPN connection using Windows XP and the 6700 with WM5's native client. You should be able to adopt this to make it work with 2K3 if you have access to the machine.

If using WM5's client and Windows 2K3 does not work for what you want, then I should be able to throw together a guide setting up an OpenVPN server on your 2K3 machine and setting up the OpenVPN client on your 6700.
