Unfortunately, the IR port on the 6700 is pretty weak and doesn't work well from a distance. There's a great program called NoviiRemote
http://www.novii.tv/ that will let you control all sorts of devices, but because of the weak IR Port I couldn't change the channel on the TV without being in direct line of sight and less than 5 feet away. Even then it only worked half the time.
The IR port on the 6700 is really only designed for beaming data between 2 devices that are sitting right next to each other.
