Faster call respond.

Ok here is the deal. I use a program kind of like PhotoContact pro. Its installed in my main memory. my ringtons are located on my SD card. Every time some one calls me, i see call status on my phone but no music and no picture is coming up for about 5 secs or so. and then picture comes up and the tone starts playing. Now my question is: is there any way to make this process faster? If i'll move my tones (mp3's) to main memory will it work faster?

if i'm not mistaken, the reson the ringtone is being delayed is beacuse it's on the SD card. Move the ringtones to the Rings folder which is located inside the Windows folder ( /Windows/Rings ). Once u do that it'll b in the drop down menu of ur Ringers (for if/when u assign custom rings for contacts or w/e) and the prob. should b fixed.

if the program your reffering to is ringo... get rid of it asap.

on to business.... there is a hack to shorten he phones ability to recognize a call... but it really screws the phone up and has since fallen to the archives of most web pages.... a two second delay or so is normal I would lean towards the access delay to the sd card

i have read numerous posts about different issues with storing the ring tones on the SD card. delays being one of them so my suggestion is to also move the ring tones back to the main memory.

I would concur that the best place for a ringtone would be on on the device's memory itself rather than the miniSD card. From experience, I have missed many calls due to a delay in ringing when I have had a ringtone on the miniSD card.

I'm not sure if it was PCP itself or if it was having some sort of conflict with another program, but I found that it did the same thing no matter where I stored my ringtones. It was worse on the sd card, but not much.
Another thing that makes a difference is the size of the ringtone file and the rate it was recorded in. I try to avoid anything over 100Kb & 32Kb/s.
I use the hack that was referred to above and find that it makes a significant difference. It's called the SCI [Slot Cycle Index]- requires you to have your MSL and be comfortable doing a little tinkering with settings that could really screw things up, but if done correctly makes a nice difference. If a search for the procedure comes up empty, repost and I'll point you in the right direction. I know it can be found at pdaphonehome.com.

The program that i am using is Inesoft Address Book v 1.67. I will look in to making the tones shorter, because if i'll put even 3 tones in my main memory in their present state, i will loose all my available space.

That could be your problem.. Large files = longer load times...

1. Use small files for ringtones.
2. Do not put ringtones on sd card.
3. Do not use midi files for ringtones.
4. If you're sure the above 3 are ok - do the slot cycle index hack.
