Luv2chill VC 1.6 OEM question

Luv2chill, I am trying to build a unified kitchen ROM with your VC 1.6 UK OEM (tried Colonel's OEM but VC was never "enabled" by default - mystery!). I put my own .exe in the folder as I do own 1.6.

When I flashed the ROM, I noticed that VC was not mapped to button 5 (the icon is blank because I've removed Cyberon from the kitchen), and while VC works when I re-map to button 5, I can't get it to work with my BT headset. When I press the headset button it briefly opens the audio gateway but the VC prompt never comes up.

I'm going to try re-cooking the kitchen with Cyberon back in place to see if anything changes. Just wanted to note my experience here so far.

The UK voice is nice but she talks so fast! I'm hoping there's a way to slow her down a bit in the RGU file.

Did you download the newest version of that OEM package? I updated it yesterday morning.

It should have definitely mapped to button 5 (even the older version). I have had no problems with that on mine. The fact that the icon was missing tells me that your rgu didn't get fully processed (or got overwritten by a later OEM?). There is an entry in the rgu to show the voice command icon for button 5.

Yes there is a reg entry to slow the voice down... can't remember off the top of my head. I'll post it when I find it or remember.

In the meantime, build again with the updated OEM and see if that solves your problem.

Wow, that's a fast response...yes, I actually downloaded it this morning. I noticed the date on the readme as yesterday so I figured you had it working nicely on the unified kitchen.

I just baked a ROM with the Cyberon in place (encoding it now), so I'll try flashing to see if that makes a difference.

For what it's worth I do not include cyberon in my ROM builds and the UK VC OEM is working perfectly for me.

If you are installing VC you might as well pull Cyberon. I am assuming that you would not use both. Plus, it saves space in your OEM folder for other stuff.

I'll try it again. I will also try the base kitchen ROM with just the VC OEM and nothing else (I have batti, OnLock, and a couple of regedits to turn beam receive off and change the default backlight settings)

I'll post again when I know more...thanks again.

No problem... here's your reg entry:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Speech\Voices]
"DefaultTTSRate"=dword:00000005

Change that to a lower number (try 4) to slow down the voice. Personally I like 5 because when the phone's ringing I want to know the number ASAP, but I can see how people would want the voice to be slower.

Just created a kitchen ROM with nothing but the VC OEM. No luck. The button 5 is still mapped to Voice Speed Dial and the icon is voice speed dial's. VC is clearly installed; I can map the button to it and use it with the british voice, but when I pair my BT headset and press the headset button, nothing happens (audio gateway opens in the headset, but there's no VC or VSD beep, and then the audio gateway closes after a few seconds).

The only thing I can think of at this point is that I haven't removed anything from my ExtROM so I still have to do the soft reset immediately after setup; maybe I'm causing something to fail since I force a reboot while the 6700 is starting up.

When I tried to install VC 1.6 from my CAB file, at the end it said "Voice Command has encountered a problem. Restart Voice Command and try again".

I guess I may be sticking with the CAB installation! I wish I knew why it wasn't working for me.
