I see the sd card issue. I use TomTom on my phone every week and since my maps are located on the sd card I get at least 3 failures a week with the app telling me that there are no maps. A soft-reset fixes the issue.....

I wonder if the storage card issue relates to the storage card startup delay I've noticed since moving past AKU 2.x (the last official verizon update). On every 3.x ROM I've used, the 6700 comes out of standby much faster than it did under 2.2 and lower, but it seems that happens at the expense of having all the device drivers fully loaded before the 6700 gives you control. One example is that voice command battery level and the battery indicator take a couple of seconds to update when I first come out of standby (sometimes on my first try, if I ask voice command my battery level, it says the battery level is unavailable). My storage card often takes a second or two to come up after I come out of suspend - this is very noticeable if I sleep the device while in File Manager and showing the Storage Card directory. When I come out of standby, I can't select Storage Card for a few seconds. If I wait a moment and try again, Storage Card shows up again. For me, it *always* comes up eventually. I wonder if having things installed to the card and having that delay may cause instability for some people. (I never install any programs to the storage card, and I don't store outlook messages to storage card either).
I've been running RC4 for a day now and the only issue I've had so far was when I tried to turn BT on and pair a device all in one step, the 6700 wouldn't pair (just hung on the wait icon) and then after I cancelled I couldn't turn BT on. When I checked the box and hit "OK" I'd come back to the BT settings screen and the box would be unchecked. Soft resetting and doing the "turn BT on", then "OK", then "pairing" processes worked fine (i.e., two separate steps), so I consider this a non-issue. I haven't made many calls yet to see if it BT turns off, but so far so good. Nuguy, any chance you're receiving text messages or emails when your BT cuts out? If I'm on a call and I get a text (I think, anything that VC wants to announce) the active call is always dropped from the BT headset and sent to the handset. It's maddening, but I can recover by pressing the headset button and it brings the call back to the headset (Jawbone BT). This behavior also happened with my Samsung WEP200, so I suspect it may be headset-independent. |

haus: No, I am very limited on texts and e-mail on my device. While there could have been some alert (appointment perhaps) I never got any notification of such (so far all notifications have worked so I don't see that as likely). As well I cannot recover by hitting the headset button because the bluetooth stack has turned off (or crashed, not highlighted in comm mngr).
In troubleshooting I was going through my settings and realized I did have a not totally working bluetooth pan connection with my xp-pro computer (I need to update it's old nasty driver). I deleted that and went ahead and deleted my headset as well and re-paired (again). So far 3 calls have come through without the crash. I am currently thinking it has to do with the incomplete pairing to my computer that hosed things. I will continue to test and post results later... |

Re: Possible BUG

Also, I had the phone lock up when I try to turn it on. What happens is the phone begins to power on, the screen comes on, but not the backlight. I can see my today screen, but the phone is then not responsive. The only thing I can do is soft reset using the stylus. Any one else run into this?

Not sure about the unresponsiveness, but just wanted to make sure you know that holding the power button down for any longer than a second or so does turn the backlight off. When that happens see if you can hold down the power button to turn the light back on. Also try ejecting your SD card if you have one inserted.
For the record, that hasn't happened for me. |

luv2chill - I know about the power button / backlight option. The problem I have encountered is the phone actually freezing up and not being able to perform any task (start menu, turning the device off, etc.)
I'll try the SD card ejecting the next time it happens. |

I haven't had any probs w/ the storage card, even did the suggested test with no problem:
1) Open Total Commander 2) Navigate to a 2nd level directory on the card 3) Tap the power button to suspend device 4) wait for 60 seconds, press power to wake device 5) quicly change to a 3rd level directory on the card = no problem, changes to the deeper directory with no lag. |

I have the Telus 6700 and am coming from a 2.x rom.
A few comments / questions. 1. It appears I needed to run the minimum provider customization in order for EVDO to work 2. I couldn't get it to sync via active sync until I hard reset it a second time. The first time it would error out with Active Sync Support Code 8007000e The EV and signal icons are behaving differently than I expect comming from the OEM 2.X. Before the EV icon would change into an EV icon with arrows when the data connection was active. Now I have a large EV icon all the time and the signal strength icon has data arrows, is this normal? It doesn't give much indication of signal strength with the arrows in the way. Edit: Additional problem - Can't change between On screen Keyboard modes on the password screen (I prefer the T9/PhonePad) |
