I just wanted to say that in spite of WM6 being released, I'm a little leery of updating to that right now. If only because a new user reported 27 megs of available RAM after a fresh install. With Saridnours PR8 beta, I have about 31 megs free - AFTER loading everything I want.

I'd still like to see an official PR8 if at all possible. Eventually, I'd like to go to WM6 - but most likely when Saridnour puts out a ROM. His have been the fastest and most feature filled ROMs I've tried.

So Saridnour, I bet I'm not the only one that would like to see you complete the official PR8.

Hi Saridnour,

To get youtube and video access working I had to first install 'TCPMP 0.72RC1.cab' to main memory (SD card install did not work)

1) http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/test/t...pc.0.72RC1.cab

Then soft reset

Now install the FlashVideoBundle.cab to main memory as well.

2) http://rapidshare.com/files/46344789...undle.zip.html

Then soft reset.

Test it out with different videos on video.google.com. I found some that won't play for whatever reason so try others if you run into this problem

If either of the two links stop working, just let me know and I'll up them to the ftp here.

Pringlet: I tried many videos off both google and youtube, but none worked for me.
I did install the .71 version of TCPMP as I thought that is what was in your original post. Ill try the 72rc1. I am just copying over the bits for the player as the reg should be ok, but need to verify this. One of the things I did notice was that the links did not spawn TCPMP (actauly they did not open anything) and copying the links to TCPMP resulted in failed to open or a browse of the dir strucure off the server. I am just trying to get what your experince was using the links (did they open TCPMP or did you copy paste the links) Also a known working video and the link type you used to open it would help me better understand the changes I have to make to get this in the rom. I also need to understand if there is something else going on with my current build that may be blocking it. The more I have to run with here and the less destructive testing I do will speed this change in the rom. By hard resetting and loading the two cabs, I loose data that may be important in getting this together

Saridnour,

Please try the following google video link for testing purposes. I found this one to be working just fine. Point PIE at the following link. TCPMP should launch and the video should start playing. (This video was one I found on the third page of Top Music Videos).

http://video.google.com/url?docid=-1...bnQ7cb_a0Mn9zg

I'm finding that more and more of the 'top' video links are not working successfully using the Flash Vid Bundle. I'm not sure if there's different types
of encoding that is causing the problems. What I've done is if I find a specific video that doesn't play, I'll usually just do a search and choose another version of the same video.

I've been running WM6 since this past weekend. It has been pretty smooth for me. After a hard reset I had about 31 MB of storage and 30 MB of program memory. I currently have 27 MB of storage and 23 MB of program memory. Most of my apps I installed into Extended Rom or the storage card, but I have Voice Command, Handy Switcher and Contact Manager running in main memory, along with all of my e-mail, contacts and calendar.

Performance wise, I had been running Saridnour's pr6 since its release. I'd say performance of WM6 is as good if not better. iGuidance loads MUCH faster for example.

I'm still looking forward to PR8 and want to see how that is.

I too jumped to WM6 on the xv6700.

I like the performance on WM6 (I am not a heavy user but did notice slow downs with other custom roms).

I am still looking forward to PR8 and will test it out.

I really haven't seen too much in WM6 that makes it a must have for me.

Question Status?

I've been using this Rom since March and love the stability it offers over the standard ROM. I have been following this thread since then for the updates and have been eagerly anticipating pr8. Is there any news on when this might be ready for non-beta testers? Thanks.

Richard
