Yes, you most likely need the username/pw. For Sprint, its my phone # and my account password that I use whenever I call up Sprint customer service so they know it's really me.

That's one of the reasons I said that the Internet Sharing option is easier. No username/pw stuff to try to remember. Also, you may find that every time you connect the phone as modem to your PC that it installs a new modem device. So, you have to go in and change your DUN settings to use the new modem. This may or may not happen for you. It consistently did for me. Didn't for some others that I know of.

Help...I've been reading the posts on Tethering with 6700 using Wmodem. I have all the necessary files loaded however, when press the start button on my phone in the wmodem program, I get this message "Please end data call first!" I disabled active sycn, and closed any programs that may running that I know of. Is there any programs running in the background that I may not know of? What's happening here, I sure could use some help.

That's what I'm running and I cannot get this to work. Vista didn't ask me some of the steps listed in the "How to" guide
I had to install the sprint connection manager in vista to get it to work. What i found out to work better than usb and bluetooth though is the new wifirouter program in the latest wm6 build. connects to the internet and uses your wifi on your phone as a router. no more cable to carry around, no more bluetooth dongle, works regardless of operating system on the computer as long as they got a wireless nic (which most laptops today do anyway).

Re: How To: Using your 6700 as a USB modem for your computer.

I have Alltels UPrepaid service I'm charged $1.00 a day for unlimited text, M 2 M, and Night and weekends, I also Pay $5.99 a month for mobile internet but if i call or use internet before 9Pm on weekdays im charged 10c a min. I am very surprised that they let me use a Data phone with prepaid. And now im tethering...... This is unbelivable!

Re: How To: Using your 6700 as a USB modem for your computer.

I'm having trouble with my verizon 6700. I don't see the wireless modem program. I have modem link but that takes me to verizon's tethering program. Any idea what my problem is?

First, make sure your phone is set to allow it to act as a modem. With your phone on, dial ##FEATURE and press the green dial key. Enter unlock code 000000 when prompted. Click on "enable WModem" and select "enable. Press OK, the phone will reset.

Please use a file manager to go into \windows, you will find "wmodem.exe" and "wmodem.lnk". Copy the .lnk file over to \windows\start menu\programs. While in \start menu\programs, you may be able to delete the verizon modem icon, unless it was installed as part of the ROM.

In order to use Wmodem, Active sync MUST be disabled on the phone (use task manager) and PC. There is a write up here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35 which covers configuring your PC. The above stuff was not covered in that post, so I mentioned it here. Verizon likes to disable stuff.

BTW, if you install a Kitchen ROM, you don't have to do the ##FEATURE, but you still have to move the shortcut.

good luck.
