AKU 3.5 RNDIS/USB issue

I have tested a couple of the newer builds and it seems that Verizonguy's build is the only one with working USB. RNDIS/Bluetooth/IRDA are not options for people working in secure environments where such things are disabled by network policy or physically removed/disconnected.

I just want to make sure that the team working on the kitchen is aware of this issue and the fact that Verizonguy managed to fix it.

Thanks!

USB support has worked with the kitchen (HELMI_Apache_3.5_KITCHEN_PPC-GEEKS_r1.2-pre2.rar) for 2 or 3 weeks now.

What are you using?

you can also do the following in the reg
Code:
Registry Sub Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\RNDIS]
Name of the Value to add: MTU Type : DWORD Data: 1514 (Value is Decimal)

Registry Sub Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\RNDIS]
Name of Value to add: MaxOutTransfer Type: DWORD Data: 1642 (Value is Decimal)

USB support

I've been playing with Kirvin's, Sar's, etc. That do not have this fix. Been waiting for the release to cook my own.

So this will allow you to disable the advanced functionality and use plain old USB serial using the USB to PC utility?

Thanks.

I was unable to use serial mode until I added the USB Cable in the registry. See my post here: /fully-working-helmi-aku-3-5-kitchen-ppcgeeks-revision-t2801,start,270.html (sorry they won't let me post links).

I'm now able to use ActiveSync over USB without dropping my VPN connection. This was a must for syncing a 40MB mailbox. It was just too slow over bluetooth.

The only problem I still have is that I sometime still get an "unknown device" error on one of my machine unless I power off the PDA, put it in the cradle, and then turn on the power. This seems to work well, but is annoying.

I'm running Kirvin's 3.5 Sprint, No Junk and I can not get any of the above tweaks to work. For some reason, with TRE, the registry file will not import (even though I get a successful message) and the other tweaks posted above (MTU and MAX...) will not work either. I keep getting a "Failed to disable RNDIS to use Serial" error message when I uncheck the "enable advanced network functionality".

this still does not fix usb modem, "com open error"
and in fact, adding these two entries caused active sync to connect, but give an error in the end

I have the clean & simple for sprint 3.5 loaded.

All the above does is change the way RAS works, so using activesync with advanced networking on has a better chance of working with a firewall on the pc.

rndis/serial is broken in these versions to an extent, but you can get around it by downloading this exe to your phone or storage card and running it from your device.
