Goodlink problems

Are there any other corporate Goodlink users who are having problems with the new ROMs? I have a Verizon 6700 from work and have tried many of the ROMs here - they all work great (thanks to all the developers btw) but Goodlink will not install successfully on any of them. After many attempts with both 3.3 and 3.5 ROMs and many account resets with my Goodlink administrators, I am now back to the stock Verizon ROM.

If you are familiar with Goodlink, then the following will make sense. I have tried OTA install, backing up from a successful installation on stock ROM and then restoring to a 3.5 ROM, and installing from SD card. In the case of the OTA install, it errors out shortly after entering the PIN and says Goodlink does not support my carrier. When restoring a backup from the SD card, it hangs at "Downloading Services - 0%".

Any thoughts here?

Isn't goodlink an outlook 2 web , web 2 pda software?

I've always just done native web 2 pda, so if you have a goodlink web access, any of the 2.0-3.x WM5's should be able to access.

I've never used goodlink, so forgive me if I'm wrong.

Re: Goodlink problems

jc3273,

I've gone through pretty much your exact same experience. You'll never get past "Downloading Services - 0%" with AKU 3.0 or later -- Goodlink simply doesn't support it. I spent the last 7 days trying every permutation to try and get it to work, but it won't. I've also seen that message you're talking about "Goodlink Messaging is not supported for the carrier: Verizon Wireless. Contact your IT Administrator."

The bottom line is, if you want to use Goodlink, you'll need to revert back to AKU 2.0.

I work for a major corporation (6,000 people) and I'm trying to get our IT staff to throw our weight at Motorola to get them to start supporting AKU 3.0 or later.

Hope this helps...

Thanks! I figured as much, but good to know for sure. Hopefully anybody else attempting this will read here first and be spared the time and energy.

hey good news for goodlink, after many attempts, it seems to be working with BigJ's 9.5 ROM, not sure what is different but it took a long time for the server to actually conect but all of a sudden, it was sync'd and I had all me email and contact info. maybe someone smarter than I can figure out what is common so we can use other new ROM's with GL....

Well I finally got GL to work with SAR3.5.pr6, it took over 2 hours for it to sync with the server but all of a sudden, as I was about to re-Flash the ROM, viola it started downloading. So to sum up what I did.
1. FLash with Sprint ROM.
2. Install GL from get,good,com.
3. Backup GL on SC.
4. ReFlash with new ROM 3.5 type.
5. Restore GL from SC. it will say downloading 0% for what seems like forever.

in the end you have 3.5 and GL. not sure how stable, but so far all is good.

*****************CORRECTION*******************
looks like it still is having issues staying conected. it updated initially but hasn't and won't update again. I'm digging into any logs that I can find to see what is bombing, if nothing presents itself, i'll goto to pr5 and give it a whirl.

Wow, so are you sure this works??? I'd give it one more shot today if it does. So will this work if I wait for 2 hours with any 3.5 AKU or only ftp://ppcgeeks:ezupload@up.ppcgeeks....KU3.5+_pr6.rar ?
