Re: Troubleshoot xv6700 flashed to Cricket
Hey - I'm trying to do the exactl same thing. I think you've actually made it just a little farther than me however, as I can't get my to connect to a tower at all.
1. What area are you located in? Are you in the Las Vegas area? 2. Which PRL file are you using? 3. Are you in roaming ? 4. Are you connecting to the towers at 1x or EV? I think between what the two of us have here, than we can get this going. If you want, email me at technohippie@gmail_dot_com.... |

Re: Troubleshoot xv6700 flashed to Cricket
Heya TechnoHippie,
1: I live in Southern Arizona (Casa Grande Area) 2: Don't know which one is loaded, it was flashed by the previous owner. Where do I look? 3: Nope I have 5 bars 4: It shows 1x in the top taskbar. When I click on it, it goes to wireless settings. Is that wrong? Should it be EV? |

Quote:
2. do this: a) in dialer, hit ##778 TALK b) enter the SPC code when it asks. If you don't know it, try 000000, if that fails try 333333. If that fails let me know I'll show you how to get yer SPC code. c) assuming you got past B, at the top of the screen you'll see the word "Display". Click on it and a menu will appear, the 7th item down is "PRL" - click on that. d) Now the 2nd line of the grid that appears will say "PRL ID", and have a number after it. In my case it says "1050" - which is where I belive my problem is. 3. You do not see a little triangle then, right? That's how you tell if you're roaming. 4. Well, it would be nice if it showed EV instead of 1x. This means you're connecting at 1x speeds instead of EVDO speeds, and EVDO is a lot faster. The real question is why it's 1x. Perhaps the area your in isn't covered by EVDO, or the PRL file that YOU have might not be good either. It's the PRL file that the phone uses to tell which towers to connect to. Lastly, it's come to my attention that Cricket has flipped the switch on their "AWS" network, which actually runs on a different band freq than the other CDMA phones. What I haven't found out yet is how that effects the people with non AWS phones like ours. MetroPCS did that in the Las Vegas area and they claim they can't do the "MetroFlash" thing their press release said they could do just last week. (MetroFlash is where they flash another carriers phone to theirs). Well, it sounds to me like the person you talked to at Cricket was under them impression he could flash our phone.....so who knows? It's either the PRL file, the fact the switch has been fliped on the AWS and the person you talked to in the store was an idiot and these units dont work on that frequency, or there is an issue with the home/sid settngs and a bunch of other headaces that are hard to figure out without another working pda on the same network. Anyway, let me know which PRL file you have & that will clear up a lot of things I think. If the guys at Cricket WILL flash a phone, I'd be willing to blow a few bucks just to get all the settings we need so I can share with everyone else who's going to want to do this. |

Re: Troubleshoot xv6700 flashed to Cricket
Hey guys, I just posted a similar issue ....
"Hello everyone, this is my first post. First off, I would like to say thank you to the community here for all the help I've recieved from all the searhcing in these forums. You guys and gals rock. Some hot girls here Cricket just came to St. Louis a couple months ago. I didnt want to use one of their bs phones, so I just purchased an XV6700 on ebay. I did weeks of research before hand and dl'd all the tools and info I needed for the switch over to cricket. I have updated the .prl and called cricket to activate, they told me to bring the phone into the store bc its not on the network. When I dial *611 I dont connect. My question is this ... does cricket need to add my esn to their network before Im able to dial *611. Im thinking yes, but I dont know. Also, what do I need to tell the cricket associate ... just put my esn on their network and start me an account? Calling it a moto rzr wont work here in St. Louis, only tri band phones work here. I still have more provisioning to do on the phone, but I cant do anything else until they add my esn ... is that correct? Thanks in advanced guys. " I've tried 1039, 1040 and 1050 .prl's. but I dont think I can do much until I get my esn activated. |

Re: Troubleshoot xv6700 flashed to Cricket
ok, i just checked and my prl# in 1041. Is that good or bad and/or do I need to try and change it?
MatsuroX - Actually, my phone does work when I dial 611. I believe TechnoHippie works as well. It sounds like your phone hasn't been flashed. You should follow the steps TechnoHippie just gave and check your PRL# That should give you your first clue if it was flashed or not. |

Re: Troubleshoot xv6700 flashed to Cricket
Hey guys...
Ok I'm in Las Vegas - and their on triband (AWS) also out here. I can't connect to 611 because I never connect to a tower....so MatsuroX, I agree that this might very well be our problem - and if it is - no fix for it either. I talked to the vice president of MetroPCS an attempt to run a 6700 on their network out here, and he said that since they've flipped the swith to AWS that they can't do that in this area - so between those two things and what we've discovered here, I'd say we're out of luck. Too bad too - since both Cricket and MetroPCS have cheap unlimited data plans it would be nice to hijack with pda's and smatphone's - but I guess they saw us coming this time..hahaha |

Re: Troubleshoot xv6700 flashed to Cricket
Ok, after hitting Howard's I'm still with no phone. I actually had it working yesterday but I did a *228 update that put me back to where it was't working again! I do have internet working now which is good though, so Im halfway there. On Howard's some say it's the radio firmware (which I tried 1.43 and 1.50) and others say it's the PRL (tried 1040, 1041, and 1050). I wish we could find someone who's had the same problem and fixed it..
