doing the hard rest and before it begins loading the programs, soft reseting is the best way to get rid of the junkware. just dont install the cabs listed by big d5.

I got so many programs installed; I hate to do the hard reset and have to reload everything again.

Thats why I posted this I hate to hard reset. I think its a challenge to see how long i can go without screwing something up so bad that I have to. I have been about 4 or 5 months this time and I have no plans to hard reset any time soon

The other method is FAR better. It involves going into the extended rom, deleting the CAB files from there and modifying the config.txt file to not install them.

Far more permanent and clean solution. It does require a hard reset though, but is well worth it as you only have to do it once. AND you actually get more space by removing the CABs from the ROM.

Those cab files are small, so can you tell me the difference in megabits that can be saved if I go through a hard reset? Just wandering, thanks.

I just did a hard reset and did not check how much storage memory I had free right after

I do recall it being somewhere in the neighborhood of 36-38 megs free though.

you have to unlock the extended rom to remove the .cabs from the extended rom. plus none of your storage is there, in others word u can't store stuff there unless its unlocked. which u could do harm to if not careful....possibly even rendering it useless. so I recommend u just uninstall and remove sub folders.
