xv6700 DOA

I don't know if it is selfinduced, bad timing, or something else but my xv6700 after laying about all afternoon showed up dead. When I plugged it in to the activesync port, the led 2 turned red. I tried a soft reset with no success then tried a HARD RESET still with no success. All I had was the red led.
After sitting on the charger base for an hour or so, even the red led was gone.
Verizon is shipping me a replacement (in 3 freaking days by the way) but...
Any hints? One possible is a bad battery. Since I don't have a new battery for it, and apparently the new 6700 isn't coming with one, will I have the same problem but with a different device?
Thanks for any help.
-John

Never encounter this problem so I can't give you any advice, sorry. That's really sucks that you'll be without your phone for 3 days. Why can you just get it replaced at the store? And why they send you a new one without the battery?

When you tried the hard reset did the Y / N appear on the screen?

Verizon Wireless sends everything through Data Services (probably a clearinghouse/service bureau). They told me over the phone (from a different carrier, that is) that even the store would refer me to them. Data Services ships only the handset. You are specifically told to kepp all the accessories and the battery. Return it in the prepaid fedex mailer.
Soft reset or hard reset yielded nothng on the display at all. If the device was unplugged, no lights and no button clicks. When plugged in, all there was was the red led, no clicks.
Probably will get the phone Tuesday. Hope it works!

Just so you know, I tried [and just tried again]. No combination of power and reset made a difference. Even adding my own personal incantations could breath life into it.
But keep thinking. I'll keep trying.

Both USB and the wall outlet. The reaction was the same.

red light right? I'm serious if u got the red light, press and remove te battery in many combos, cuz that's what got it for me, and I didn't want to do a hard reset, and I promise I got it working. But I would probably send it in/get a new one anyway, even if u got it working.
