Re: New PPC6700 - Need Help With Cricket

Well, one issue seems to have been this:

Open the PST settings (##778#) , select the M.IP menu, change MIP_MODE to Simple IP Only.

Et viola - I get connected.

Cred goes to mooingrhinocero over at howardforums.com for giving me the fix.

Now to debug MMS issues......

I got a ppc 6700 off ebay. It was flashed to cricket. I do not know alot about how to program these phones. I was finally able to program the phone yesterday. I can;t get internet or mms working though.

My SPC code was on the back of the battery cover. Here is the info I was sent to program the phone.

Activation instructions

-enter ##778# or ##778 (dial button/ green botton)
select edit
- enter MSL code (located at the back of your battery door)
- highlight MSID field, click on edit, enter your MSID number. Then
press ok.
On the upper left hand corner, tap on the screen where it says "Display"
Tap on Display. A pull down menu will appear.
- Select NAM Settings
Highlight field that says Mobile Directory Number (MDN),
click on edit and enter your Mobile Directory Number (MDN),
on the upper left hand corner, tap on the screen right where it says
"Nam Settings"
A pull down menu will appear.
- Select Home SID/NID. Highlight very first field, click on edit.
Enter your SID/NID number
- Click ok, confirm you want to make changes,

Unit will turn of /off
Phone should be now Activated

*call your cellphone provider for the correct MSID, MDN, SID/NID.

This worked to get my phone working. Cricker actually asked me if they could copy this information for thier files. Good Luck.

I even tried forcing my connection to use a 1x connection instead of EVDO (via a simple registry hack) and it still won't work.

This is too weird. Does anybody here have a ppc6700 with Apache that can do both MMS and cellular-based Internet?

Are there any known software conflicts that might prevent it from working? I've been searching and reading and so far haven't come up with anything to explain nor solve this problem.

Could it be that that Cricket is blocking access from non-Cricket phones?

I think you and I are in the same boat. I can get my wi-fi to work at home, but as soon as I leave, I get "connecting #777" and it doesn't work. My mms doesn't work either. I am following this thread. I hope someone can help

Does your phone have a little "EV" symbol in the top bar? If so then you probably need to set the phone to work only in 1x mode. If it already says 1x at the top then you need to configure your Connection settings. Go to Settings->Connections. There's info how to set that up, but basically you set it to dial #777, set your user name to [yourphonenumber]@mycricket.com, and set the psw to 'cricket'. Then set the proxy settings in that connection so that the HTTP proxy wap.mycricket.com on port 8080.
