I'm posting this from my freshly upgraded VZ XV6700. I just wanted to thank you guys for the great work you've all done so we can better use these devices!

Ok, just some information of my experiences in case they help others using this great build.
My phone is an XV6700 from VZ purchased from a local Verizon corp store on March 10th, 2007. It was running the current 2.2 at the time for Verizon. So I attempted to upgrade following the instructions and ran into a snag during install. The Country Code error that has been reported and discussed a bit already. I tried multiple times on multiple computers with and without the cradle and I was definitely using bootloader mode. The solution came when I deleted a bunch of errata USB profiles from my workstation and did a reboot on it and let Windows do it's hardware thing. All the computers I tried on were heavily used machines with tons of devices etc. After that, XP correctly ID'd the phone's USB profile, loaded it and the install went fine. After installing, I set the device up and let the Verizon junk install. My thought process was to build away from stock in the smallest possible steps. Hard reset again after everything was done. Again, let the VZW stuff install. Using the device in this state showed a snappier response time with a few noticeable glitches. The phone application would not stay open for more than about 10 seconds. I was unable to locate an interface setting that would adjust this but the calls worked that I made to test the phone. *228 connects to a stock VZW message that says the call cannot be completed as dialed. I also test calling to my phone and that does not work. There is no notification of a voicemail nor does the phone ever ring on several test calls. Calling voicemail from the phone does work fine however. Checking out the EVDO/internet connection proves to work well and seems to connect a bit faster and smoother than before but that may be perception thing. It connected via the #777 method without me using a Username, Password or even setting up a connection (via the VZW stuff installing I assume). So #' seem to work as I check them all. *'s do not. *scrathes head* Turned the phone off, waited about 10 seconds and new hard reboot. Again I let the VZW stuff install. Again, same problems. I repeat the turn off hard reset stuff. This time I do not let the VZW stuff install via the soft resest when warning appears. Bingo, all phone codes work and phone application functions fine. So I update via *228 and all works well. I can receive calls again as well as make them. Happy phone! Trying internet connectivity fails though so I go create a new connection using celluar line, #777, yournumber@vzw3g.com username and vzw password that was posted and easily found via searching here. EVDO works again! So I now have a 3.5 updated new XV6700 with working phone and internet connections. I'm a happy camper! I have not tested anything else yet but now that I have the simple stuff working and don't have to worry about not having access to my work web site and phone, I can work on the PDA stuff that I need. Thanks to all of you guys that have done the work on this stuff! |

Is anyone else seeing this problem, and have you found a fix? From what I've read about Internet Sharing, it's supposed to Just Work. Am I missing a step? |
Hi,
New here, as they are replacing my Sprint 6600 with a 6700, and I'm new to all this WM2005 stuff. Would this be the best rom update to do? I see there are others on the site. I don't get the 67 for another 3 days, so want to learn all I can about it. Thank you for any help. |

My thoughts on your problem is that there may be a driver problem. When you go into Device Manager, do you see a "Windows Mobile-based Device #nn" under your "Network Adapters" section? If you see a yellow exclamation mark, or "Unknown Device", or CDMA Modem, you need to update your drivers for the Apache on your PC. ¿GotJazz? |
