Jeff, thank you very much. As stated earlier, this is exaclty what I was looking for, a clean, simple, no frills rom that I can add to.
Now I'm starting to look for a few frills, and have run into a small problem. I ran across the On Demand thread, which stated that this should work. http://ppcgeeks.com/on-demand-for-wi...ile-t1070.html Part of the install is to load up Net 2.0 CF, which you already have loaded. It still wants to load it, and errors out. Any guidance? Thanks again.. Rus

Help! Smart Dial problem
Has anyone encountered this? When I install a dialer skin and uninstall it going back to the original MS skin, smart dial is gone. If I reinstall the skin the smart dial is back.

This basic ROM is exactly what I was hoping to find. The others that I have found here all seem to incorporate some sort of commercial or shareware (or trial version) software. I prefer to use free or GPL software whenever possible.
I have a couple of questions: 1) Is there any advantage to "cooking" a ROM with additional software (such as TCPMP) already installed rather that simply installing the software after installing the new basic ROM and hard resetting the device? Does this somehow provide more available memory? 2) Is there any disadvantage to deleting the CABs from the Extended ROM to increase the memory available in the extended ROM to install programs to. I know that they will not be available to run in the event of a hard reset. I assume that this will not be a problem for a version 3.5 ROM because there are not any Sprint or UT Starcom updates that need to run. With no CABS in the Extended ROM I know that after a hard reset I will have to repeat the installation of 3rd party programs manually. 3) Is there any way to get back the old voice dial. I know that it is inferior to Microsoft Voice Command but it was free and Voice Command is $40!!! I don't know if there is a thread on this but I am also listing the free/GPL software that I use: 1) Total Commander 2.5 beta 2 (file manager) http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm 2) TCPMP 0.72 RC1 and all plug-ins (media player) http://tcpmp.corecodec.org 3) PocketXpdf 0.5 (PDF file viewer) http://pocketxpdf.sourceforge.net 4) Microsoft .NET compact framework 2 http://www.microsoft.com/net/ 5) DevState 1.5 (Today screen replacement) (I don't know if this is needed in AKU 3.5) http://www.ppcgeeks.com/devstate-t39...,devstate.html 6) ClearTemp 9.2.3 (clears temporary or unncecessary files) http://mobile-sg.com/software/?p=ClearTemp&platform=ppc 7) BT Audio utilities (redirects audio to bluetooth) (I don't know if this is needed in AKU 3.5) http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsu...hlight=btaudio Thanks for any advice and I really appreciate all the work that people have put into maintaining and updating the software for this device. |

Tok, my battery indicator shows up, you might want to check your settings again. I use LVM time and had to uncheck clock on all pages. That gave me my battery indicator on the Today page and clock on all other pages. I also use batti for a battery indicator, really great.

I've been running your 3.5 for a while now :P , and only one problem; I like to listen to web-radio (either MundoRadio, or RadioIo) either on my bluetooth, through cabled stereo speakers, or connected old-tech style to my car cassette player through a cassette adapter, and the whole device shuts down after a while (sometimes 3 minutes, sometimes anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes. Very frustrating while driving, will be OK when bike riding.
Any idea why this is happening |
