in my experience, the connection speed that your pc recognizes means nothing. you can actually change this speed in the modem properties of your usb wmodem found in network devices.
if you would like to see your actual data transfer speed you should go into the windows directory in your ppc - make sure that you have selected to show all files - and run a program called fieldtrial. if you change the tab in the upper left from 1X to HDR you will find that the 9th field down is called requested data rate. this i believe is the actual transfer speed that you are experiencing. go ahead and give it a shot - you will find that just rotating or moving your pda a few inches can change this value quite significantly. crazy. |

its not actually connecting at that speed, that's just what the computer is registering it as.
I'm assuming you are using USB tethering. to check your speeds, try testing at dslreports.com under tools or speakeasy.net if you are using BT tethering, it will be slower than usb tethering due to limit of speeds. but if you are using usb and you are talking about the little bubble that pops up on xp on the status bar in the lower right corner, disregard it. |

BT tethering doesn't work in AKU 3.3. i will check on dslreports, speedtest.net, or speakeasy next time i'm in an evdo area. just kinda sucks when you need to navigate a network drive while on the road and you can't get evdo service where you are. stupid south sioux city ne/sioux city ia area
