I would try deleting and remaking the AS partnership. Delete on both PC and PPC, reboot both devices, reconnect. You said there was no problem with the AS, since you can sync another 6700 fine.
Also, are you sure that the enable advanced network functionality is unchecked? Start>Settings>USB to PC
