I cloned my ESN but now I don't have service?

This thread is my last ditch effort to get help because I can't find an answer and I know talking about is kind of taboo. I already changed it and yes, I know its illegal but its my own ESN and its not stolen. Anyway, it appears I did it successfully because when I go to the RTN screen the ESN DEC and HEX are both correct and so are my MDN and MSID but I don't get any bars at all so I'm not able to use voice services at all. I'm thinking I had to have done something wrong even though everything looks correct. When I load the original $SYS.ESN and reboot the phone it gets service again but when I load my modified $SYS.ESN it gets no service and I have looked over the modified $SYS.ESN file in a hex editor and everything looks fine. Its just very frustrating because I've been trying to do this for a couple days now. If it matters, the phones ESN I cloned is a Blackberry 8130 Sprint and I did try updating the PRL which didn't help. Thanks for any help.

Try doing a *2280(x) where X is the block that your provider is on. It can go from 1-9 so keep hitting each one until you get the correct service update message.

You so sure? I can get Sprint's OTA message when I dial *22804 here in my area.

*edit* wait... maybe you didnt screw up... is the ESN you are trying to clone 11 digits in DEC format?
Yes, it is 11 digits. Do I need to do a extra step step or something? Thanks for everyones responses too.

That connects me to Sprint but is it necessary to call them? Will this some how activate the cloned 6700? Thanks

Yeah, I do. I followed the exact instructions on another board for a thread specifically about the 6700. What was the problem you were having? How did you fix it? I'm not sure if it matters but my 6700 also has an 11 digit DEC. Thanks
