ppc 6700 phonebook

HI everybody!
Can someone please help me I need to migrate (import) my old .csv phonebook I have in my pc to my sprint ppc 6700 (wm6). I downloaded this .csv from an old cel I had and now I would like to save some time and paste it directly to my apache if its possible. I appreciate your help guys, =D> Keep it up!

Re: ppc 6700 phonebook

best things I think you can do is see what all apps on the PC will read a csv file because the PPC wil not read it on it own. Google says the file extension is read by MS Excel or other spreadsheet type apps. So I would try to start there and then import into Outlook and sync or, worse case, type them in by hand. At least you have a physical keyboard and not 1-9 keypad.

Re: ppc 6700 phonebook

I've always had to type them in if I had a csv, cause all it is is a spreadsheet of names and numebrs. it will open in excel btw. I use mymobiler and type them in through my comp cause it comes up on the screen, a little faster than using the phone. Plus if you want you can copy and paste it into the phone.

Re: ppc 6700 phonebook

.csv is "comma seperated value" and can be read (as stated above) by most spreadsheets and can be imported to almost all email clients. I would recomend importing it into a client and sync it.

Re: ppc 6700 phonebook

Problem is the only way to sync with the 6700 is outlook and the demo will not do it you have to BUY it. That sucks. Its amazing no one has come up with a solution to this yet.

The only other way is to boot up a STOCK rom image (won't work in wm6) Bluetooth the contacts to the stock rom from your old cell phone. now use pimbackup to back them up.

Reflash to your new rom resync and now "restore" the contacts with pimbackup. Now you have a "backup" that you can always restore to a PPC without having to buy any software or even connect to a PC with. (for some reason bluetooth transfer of contacts is broken in wm6.1 I have no idea why or how to fix it)

Re: ppc 6700 phonebook

You could try this. It's supposed to make active sync connect to outlook express.

Re: ppc 6700 phonebook

Yeah, that was dissapointing, but if it works it is well worth spending $17 for that instead of $200 for Office to get Outlook.
