You can also try AnySame Express. It's supposed to sync to Outlook Express and it it free.

Hmmm I will have to see if thunderbird can import my backups I hate having to pay for what should have been in the box but it might be worth it to not have to reinstall OE. I actually like OE but I use thunderbird.

Ouch 20 EURO's ! thats over $30-35 US! or is it almost 2:1 now?

Try the FinchSync. I think it's the same thing but with fewer features. And it is FREE.

Now that looks pretty neat ! I am going to keep an eye on it. I wish someone would JUST make an app that would "convert" whatever you have into whatever the PPC needs to read. I put the file on the SD card and IMPORT it into the address book. No software to install protocols to configure etc.. Or just fix the BT in wm6.1

I do like the ability to sync remotely via internet. Thats neat. Update my address book on the go sync right then and there so even if I lose the phone or it dies etc.. the information is now safe at home. Neat idea.

At any rate, i'm willing to help if you want. We could do the following:

-You Email the csv file to me
-I'll import it into Outlook
-I'll sync my phone with outlook
-I'll use PIM Backup to put the contacts into a backup file
-I'll email you the PIM Backup file
-You install PIM Backup and restore the contacts from the file

Problem solved. While this isn't easiest (nor is it the most confidential), it would work. Let me know if you want to go that route. Oh, one more thing. Once you've restored the contacts, you could use a combination of PIM Backup & Dashwire to always have an up to date copy of your contacts in case anything happens.

Hey guys, after searching off and on a bit, I found a way, no need to install anything, casue Outlook can do it all for you. I'm not sure how well it imports, but it exports with a whole lot of info you don't necessarily need, atleast stuff I don't enter into my contacts.(address, pager, etc.)

To import contacts from a CSV file or from Excel into Outlook:

-Select File | Import and Export... from the menu in Outlook.
-Make sure Import from another program or file is highlighted.
-Click Next >.
-Now make sure Comma Separated Values (Windows) is selected.
-Click Next >.
-Use the Browse ... button the select the desired file.
Typically, choose Do not import duplicate items.
-Click Next >.
-Select the Outlook folder you want to import the contacts to.
This will usually be your Contacts folder.
-Click Next >.
-Click Map Custom Fields ....
Make sure all columns from the CSV file are mapped to the desired Outlook address book fields.
-You can create new mappings by dragging the column title to the desired field.
-Any previous mapping of the same column will be replaced with the new.
-Click OK.
-Now click Finish.

To save your contacts from Outlook to a CSV file:

-Select File | Import and Export... from the menu.
-Make sure Export to a file is highlighted.
-Click Next >.
-Now make sure Comma Separated Values (Windows) is selected.
-Click Next > again.
-Highlight the Contacts folder.
-Click Next >.
-Use the Browse... button to specify a location and file name for the exported contacts.
Something like "Outlook.csv" or "ol-contacts.csv" on your Desktop should work fine.
-Click Next > (once more).
-Now click Finish.
