Alas this only works if you ALREADY have the contacts on the device. I actually did end up going this route kind of. I flash back to stock rom. Squirted the contacts over backed up with pimbackup and then flash to 6.1 and restored with pim backup.
I also got the spb backup and it works fine but does NOT backup/restore everything.
For example my mail settings are not showing in message yet when I try to "create" the account using the same name it says already exists. Odd.
is there a COMPLETE backup utility available for these things IE a perfect complete backup of every byte on the device ? On the palm this was very easy proving quite a bit more difficult on these PPC devices
