fix/disable joystick?

Hey,

I bought a used/refurbished xv6700 off ebay and its almost perfect condition except Ive realized the joystick is broken. It "clicks" in quite often and randomly, for example, I will be typing in a phone number to call and it will start dialing partway through me typing it in because the thing clicks..

or in WMP, ill play an MP3, and it kept pausing and playing randomly...then I realized if you push the joystick that plays/pauses it..

Is this a common problem? if so, is there a fix? or is there a way I can disable the joystick? I was able to do it in WMP but I would like to just turn it off in general.. im guessing through some kind of registry value change.


hopefull I can get a replacement through the ebayer, as they were selling a ton of them it seems.

Another problem I noticed is when I go to type something in a text box or wherever with the keyboard, it sometimes just doesnt work..but if i double tap the power button on top real quick it starts working.. I actually think it might have to do with the joystick clicking in and making the box lose focus maybe? Or maybe this is a bug with the phone? anyone?

I'm on my 3rd 6700 for the same reason. I'm about to do another insurance swap on monday. I was told aebuttons plus
ae.inc.ru/aebplus_t.html
would disable it. I couldn't get it to work in the phone function but give it a whirl. let us know if you figure it out!!
