Re: xv6700 Stuck at Tap Screen
Hey PPCFreak!
I found this on another site that was showing how to disassemble your 6700. "Thanks to both threeshot223 and tonydiv, I used both of your information you posted to replace my screen. The only thing I would add is that when you replace the screen your old one will have a copper foil stuck to the back of the lcd. Carefully remove this and stick it on the back of the new lcd. I tried without installing copper foil figuring I would have a good enough connection with the copper ears coming from faceplate. Wrong, screen worked touch screen did not work until I went back and installed copper foil. Once again thanks, hope this will help someone else." Have you looked to see if this might be your problem?? Here's the link to the other forum: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6...bly-guide.html Last edited by macejsc; 05-07-2008 at 03:23 PM. Re: xv6700 Stuck at Tap Screen
I take it the copper foil needs to connect to the sides of the LCD from the back. Guessing its a way to ground the lcd panel?

Re: xv6700 Stuck at Tap Screen
Well, still no go. Got the copper foil to ly over the back of the LCD. Its not really too secure to the back of the LCD and its not sticking to the sides.
Do the two copper tabs from the front cover go over the back copper foil or does the copper foil go over those? I have it currently set so the two copper tabs go over the LCD back copper foil. But still no touch screen reaction |

Re: xv6700 Stuck at Tap Screen
Still not working.
Been getting some weird USB errors of late. Sometimes device will connect and allow me to replace the welcome.exe file other times it will not. Have to wiggle the cable sometimes. Would this maybe have an affect on the touch screen? |

Re: xv6700 Stuck at Tap Screen
With both intermitent problems, it could be a failing mainboard. Or you might have knocked something loose while concentrating on the LCD. I busted my volume slider and didn't even know for a couple days because I was so focused on teh LCD connecters.

Re: xv6700 Stuck at Tap Screen
The USB connector on the main board is messed up. I have de-solder the usb connector and since replaced it. Works fine.
The volume slider on the side of the main board has been broke for a while (the small plastic nub that sticks out and allows the silver slider to push up and down on it broke). I figured that I could always do the volume with the on-screen volume control (do that with my other phone 95% of the time). I hardly ever us the volume slider on the side of the phone. I am to the point that I think I have a main board going bad. I am trying to get another 6700 to work with (without tearing apart my current 6700 that I use for everyday stuff). |
