Disable active sync on the laptop by right clicking on active sync, click on connection settings and then make sure "allow usb connections" option is not checked. Plug in your phone and click on internet sharing on it and click connect. you should be sharing your EVDO

Nope they have no way of telling that you are tethering at this time as far as i know. the SERO plan gives you unlimited vision right?

For Verizon, Customize_105201.sa.CAB adds some registry entries. One of them is

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\WModem]
"Multi-NAI"=dword:00000001

This allows them to check for tethering. Not sure about sprint.

Sprint does have that registry entry, but to my knowledge I have never been charged for tethering. (check my bill every month, dont just pay it)

there is no way, I repeat, no way for sprint to know you are tethering from the ppc-6700. future ppc phones will implement a feature to tell sprint, although there may or may not be workarounds. another reason to hold on to the 6700 when the 6800 arrives; tethering.

even if they disabled usb and bt tetering, you still have the option (although its a little complicated but it works) of using your 6700 as a wireless evdo router/access point. I've been able to connect to the 6700 via ad hoc and browse the web on my laptop usin wifi. in laymen's terms, this means I connected my laptop to my 6700 via a wifi connection (ad hoc) and browsed the web. the drawback: only able to use port 81 which is www/http only; no email or even email checking!
